so, President Jackson had a wife named Rachel (well, I discovered this today, too, but that's not my point), and his presidency was in the 1830s (also besides the point). Well, I just looked up the popularity of the name Rachel bc it baffles me that someone from that long ago would've born (born? beared? borne? well, whatever the past tense of "to bear (a name)" is lol) such a name, and as it turns out, it was there even in 1880! that's pretty wild to me, since I consider it more as a 1980s/1990s name.

@athenarose afaik you're the only other name nerd on here. Thoughts?

Many names have very interesting histories. Like when the name peaked in popularity and the origin. For example, the name Athena surged in popularity in 1979, then dipped, and then surged again in 1999 (and has continued since)

Rachel is a biblical name, looking at the name of her siblings it seems like they mostly had biblical or biblical variations of names. Rachel’s story is unfortunate though, with what she had to deal with after marrying Andrew Jackson

That is surprising. Rachel sounds and feels like it is an modern name. Im glad raches have been slaying since the 1800s
