Appreciation What's ur favorite anime movie? (recs?) (1 Viewer)

My favorite anime movie is Madoka Magica: Rebellion, I have seen it so many times It's definitely Madoka Magica and Shaft to the max, the visuals got improved a lot with movie budget (not that they were bad) so they are more psychedelic and pretty as ever and I love how the whole movie with it's soundtrack is inspired by theatre play. And I love mystery so that's always fun. In other hand the movie doesn't work as stand alone without watching the show first.

It's harder to say what my favorite stand alone movie is. I have 3 favorites at the moment in that field and for different reasons. Maybe I will just point them out quickly.

Spirited Away , my favorite Ghibli movie from the ones I have seen. It used to be Howl's Moving Castle, but after seeing Spirited Away I just knew why people hold it up so high. The world-building is great and I love growth the main character has. Ghibli just transfers ur to it's magical lands.

Koe no katachi/ Sound of Voice , whenever I want to see tearjerker anime this is it. More than one box of tissues was needed. The story is pretty deep and challenged me to again some harder topics that were mentioned during the show. I was fighting myself if I like or dislike some of the characters (not cause they are badly written) and why I dislike them if I do. I recently read the manga and I just loved how it went to more in depth with certain characters and also ending of the movie.

Promare, most recent in the list I'm so sad this wasn't aired in theatres there cause this would been so hype in big screen. I feel like everything in the movie was just done thinking let's do it as cool as possible. Animation, art, color, characters, music- it's ridiculously over the top at times but it works since it's intentional. It just makes u want to move, but is still plenty emotional! Gotta rewatch it soon.

I didn't sadly see many Ghibli films when i was kid, I think Howls Moving Castle was first one I saw and I was in high school But i have been trying to catch up. I even have some on DVD I haven't seen yet, actually 3 wtf Maybe i will watch one tomorrow, probably starting from Nausicaä

Definetly watch Totoro, I would go as far as to say that one is their most innocent movie, but also VERY sad in a way.

Ah I have seen Totoro and couple others, for me it's around mid tier right now from the ones I have seen! :d It does have quite lot of depth when u look past the surface what I like. My favorites so far have been Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle and maybe Grave of Fireflies but i guess I just like pain and crying with that one xdd
