I was at a play group today and we got videos of a baby just playing with a mirror and was so fascinated by it (obviously I can’t share it for confidently reasons). But it was the most adorable thing

I think it’s that they don’t get the concept, and I think it’s similar to what you see with some pets

they get so excited
mine used to try to touch it and then get weirded out because it's glass and not an actual person lol
