What's your last five-star read? (1 Viewer)

Inspired by @Tickita ! Give me more books to add to my to-read list!

Thankfully, I've been on a decent reading streak lately, but my last five star read was from November, book 6 in the Murderbot Diaries series, Fugitive Telemetry. Start with book 1, though, All Systems Red. If you like scifi, then you'll at least enjoy this. There's robots and cyborgs and space travel and gun fights. But my love for the the series has a lot to do with the fact that it's very reflective about... what does it mean to be a person? Are you still allowed to find community even if you've done a very bad thing? How do you move forward? I like books that linger. And all this reflection is done in the voice of a very sarcastic, "jfc don't make me deal with people" cyborg, so it is delightful. It's only about ~150 pages or about 3.5 hours on audiobook (with A+ narration), so if you hate it, you're not out that much time either.

That book about wine I read. It’s mostly 5 star because before that it had been such a long time that I had read a book that I have little to compare it to
But i would recommend it to anyone who likes wine, non fiction, and/or reading. It’s called 9000 years of wine and it’s very interesting. I don’t even drink alcohol and I enjoyed it.

I liked how though there were the same people in different dimensions, the main character's relationships were different. As well as herself. If dimensions were real, it would be interesting to see how oneself differs from what and who they know. At first she's racing through dimensions to kill her father's killer.

I don't read that much anymore but I will always recommend 'The Glass Castle' by Jeanette Walls & 'The Grass is Singing' by Doris Lessing.
