IMO there's an impact on the K-Pop industry when a K-Pop band makes their music more popular internationally. Up to the point where they get part of a European music festival that isn't even specialized on K-Pop (Primavera Sound Festival 2022). But that's surely a matter of interpretation.

Dreamcatcher's 'Nightmare Series' with its horror/mystery concept is unique in the K-Pop industry. And (as far as I know) 'Maison' was the first K-Pop song that warned about the consequences of overexploitation and climate change. But how signifant will such experiments be on the future of K-Pop - who knows?

I also don't consider him to be Kpop as it's currently defined.

I want to say 1st Gen group Seo Taiji and the Boys. They were considered the pioneer group to introduce western style influence in their music.

Also Yang Hyun Suk founded YG Entertainment after the groups disbandment. YG Entertainment might not exist today if it weren’t for the success of Seo Taiji and the boys happening. Which means Bigbang, Blackpink, 2NE1 and other groups and artists under YG might not exist today.

H.O.T., they were the first KPOP idol group, and they did so many things that are still the standard today.
