Who or what do you refer to when you say YG. (1 Viewer)

This has been bothering me for quite some time, over the years when i mention YG, its usually i meant YG the company, not that YG person, but when we are discussing at times on threads talking about YG artists or music, people usually mix him/he into the discussion when YG is brought up, its to the point that YG is the man himself ignoring the fact that YG can also mean the company.

Its the same with JYP but its not happening with SM when SM stands for the founder initials.

Why is this happening?

I imagine this is bcs both YG and JYP, the men, are more involved with the companies and more visible for the fans eyes, they are front and center with the company leading to a lot of fans very tightly associating the man and the company.

When you think about JYP the company, you most likely will also instantly think of JYP the man.
With SM, Sooman isn't so.... tightly connected in ppls brains. A lot of the newer or more casual fans don't even really know he exists.

Its kinda weird for me that way, and people keep associating the company actions with the founders. All three of the companies are public companies, i'd imagine that what they can or not do would be kept in check by the board of directors.

I imagine it's bcs that image is pushed.
Both JYP and YG appear on shows fans watch a lot representing the company so to say.

SM on the other hand..... doesn't.

Fans mostly don't really think rationally, they mostly know shiz they see on variety shows.

I always add and E after when talking about the company recently because people get confused lmao. So JYP is Park Jinyoung, JYPE is JYP Ent. SM is Sooman, SME is SM Ent. YG is...what's his name again? YGE is YG Ent.

i think it's really due to YHS and JYP being involved in variety shows themselves.
