Hah, I hate when guys do this. It's especially anxiety-inducing when I live in a location and culture where rejecting someone can get you assaulted and/or killed. Personally, I mean it when I say no. There's a period at the end of that no, not a question mark that invites further inquiry.
I've been approached before several times in which the first no was ignored. The follow-up is to either ask again or to ask "Why?"Or to ask if I have a boyfriend (I've learned NOT to say no if I don't, because not having a boyfriend means you're available, and being available means you "have no reason" to turn that guy down.) And it's not about mixed signals (which I saw on AKP with the ardent YG defenders) -- I'm polite. I'm polite because I'm a southerner AND because I was raised that way. I'm polite but firm. But apparently, being polite is "sending a mixed signal" to some men. But I've seen media in which being rude can get you hit or shot, and so I continue to err on the side of caution and maintain a firm politeness as I extricate myself from such a situation.
So when I see this little story, I don't think, "Aww" anything. But that's just based on experiences that have shaped me and the culture I'm in, so.
