I don’t see hate. Just people who are disappointed because they are moving on from their « pure » metal/rock signature sound. It’s always like that when a group reinvents themselves, some new fans join and some others leave. Everybody can’t be satisfied with a musical act last release. It’s unavoidable.

I think it's only natural. There will always be people who hate songs no matter what. It just happens no matter the group or song.

just people having opinions, that's ok. Personally, I am sooo proud of them, they did so well with this comeback and whole album too. Everyone got to shine and they are a shining star in the kpop sky imo <3

Do people really hate it tho? I think they still like it, but feel some of their past material was better. That can happen as a group changes/evolves its sound. Some original fans feel left behind while some newer fans might be brought in.

It's also happening with Twice.

Just gonna drop that they do have Break the Wall on the album if you want hard-hitting Dreamcatcher. I for one am glad that they are experimenting, as long as they don't go to cutesy MINX doom. Even Can't get you out of my mind is a bop, it's europop as it gets and it suits them so well.

For me Boca is really underwhelming, I waited for something to happen but nothing did? I don't mind if they try to appeal to a greater audience but you can still make songs exciting while going mainstream.

I totally agree on the MV thing tho, and especially the styling as well, seems like they put more money into those 2 than the production of the title. The b-sides of the album however are fantastic.

Have no clue (I personally really like it). It's really just differences in opinion, which people are free to have.
Some are saying it's because they don't sound like they used to, but they sound very much like DC to me. They still have rock elements in a lot of their songs.
Although, you can't grow as an artist (or person even) if you don't experiment/change it up a bit every once in a while.

Piri was a great one, it was enough rock to me but this one and Déjà Vu... so disappointing

Been with them since their redebut as Dreamcatcher and Boca along with Deja Vu are my least favorite comebacks from them tbh. I do am glad I saw more line distribution in Boca tho since Dami has more parts to rap and Gahyeon did have some extra parts too, but this is to expect when they are down a member.

I don't think I'll love Dreamcatcher again as I used to. This comeback almost proves they'll diverting from their original sound. That sound was what made me love them while I considered the rest of kpop underwhelming. Now they are joining the underwhelming mainstream.

I'm not gonna lie I was afraid I wouldn't like it with the previews (I like tropical house but I couldn't figure out how it would work in a DC song), but I ended up liking it a lot.

As of now, it's not my favorite on the album though. Break The Wall all the way for me.

I just realized how tragic it is for kpop when a group disbands when they are still releasing good stuff.

Take Exid for example, girls could go on for at least some years more, still being insteresting.

But nope, contract ends, let's kick all of them out asap.

I think they kept enough of the old "Oooh, what does THIS thing mean??" aspects of past Dreamcatcher MVs, while doing newer things, like with all the backup dancers, which is of course more mainstream (I know they had that in "Scream," but that was pretty recent too). Also, the the whole use of "Boca" in the song is similar to how they used "Piri" in that song, so that's similar too. And there's guitar in it...

I dunno. It's not so much that an artist should reinvent themselves, it's that they SHOULD stay within the same, familiar theme, but be creative and flexible enough to tell different stories within that theme. That's pretty much exactly what Dreamcatcher is doing, so it's fine with me.

I fully agree with you. The chorus is still pretty hard-hitting and while the rest of the song might sound a bit poppy that's simply because it's summer yall.

The thing is, if BOCA made for any of the top groups, you can bet it would blow up.
I know Dreamcatcher have that signature rock sound with dark concept, but do you really see any of that going away? Even with Scream, they still had rock mixed in with the EDM and other genre's.

Yes, they have evolved and their music isn't the same as it was before but at the end of the day, they are a K-pop group who have to be a K-pop group to survive in the K-pop industry.

If they kept doing the same thing over and over, they would find it hard to bring in any new fans since the hard rock/metal sound is niche.

I've heard people who like Dreamcatcher say that they don't like rock music but Dreamcatcher have got them into it or Dreamcatcher is the only rock music they like.

I don't think Dreamcatcher can ever go back to how they were because the fans they have that got into their new music would leave and that is a lot of fans.
The fans that are still with Dreamcatcher since the earlier days have learned to adapt and they appreciate both their new music and old music and they can say 'I was there for all of the changes that Dreamcatcher went through'.
