Now this is only my opinion on Big Planet Made (BPM), but I think they are doing shady business.
And international fans are believing all the shit.
This will be a bit longer, but I want to explain why I think that way.


Who is Big Planet Made and why is MC Mong a problem?
BPM was co-founded in 2021 by MC Mong and Duble Sidekick member Park Jang-geun. Its a subsidary of the company One Hundred.
One Hundred was also co-established in 2023 by MC Mong and Cha Ga Won (Chairman of p_Arc Group) as the 'umbrella' company
to its other labels, such as BPM, Million Market and so on.
Now that's nothing special so far, but most ppl dont know much about MC Mong, considering he was gone from the spotlight for some time.
He had his debut 1998 and became a really popular hip hop artist in the 2000s.


Why is MC Mong problematic?

2004 - making homophobic comments during an interview on the television show. He said that if gun ownership were legalised in South Korea, gay people should be shot dead, adding, "The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin"

2010 - he was accused of evading mandatory military service by having a healthy teeth extracted (was sentenced to a six-month jail term, probation for one year, and 120 hours of community service / and was also banned by 2 major TV networks from appearing on their programs)

2022 - was caught trying to leave the country carrying $70,000 in cash, which he had not reported to customs. This was in violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, which states that amounts exceeding $10,000 must be reported to the relevant customs office when entering or leaving the country.

2023 - poaching scandal involving EXO CBX + Kai. He denied all allegations, but look where they are now... Part of the conversation was leaked, after EXO CBX filed for their contract nullification with SM, in which MC Mong said "I really want to bring Kai and Baekhyun"

2024 - was fined with three million won for refusing to appear as a witness in a fraud case involving golfer Ahn Sung-hyun. Ahn had planned to acquire a 5% stake of BPM, using investment provided by Kang Jong-hyun, another defendant in the case. Kang accused Ahn of failing to return the money when the investment was cancelled. Mong, described as a "key witness", was summoned by the court on three occasions, but refused to appear each time, changing his phone number to avoid being contacted.


Because of those scandals, I think he is a highly problematic person. He clearly didnt change over the years and didnt learn anything from the past. Now with the ongoing EXO CBX scandal it feels like he only wants to stir up trouble yet again. He is clearly pulling the strings behind everything as he started the whole lawsuit to begin with.


EXO-CBX scandal and Baekhyuns role in it
I think the one that was poached/influenced the most was Baekhyun. I also dont like him anymore because he influenced Taemin in joined that shit show BPM. But thats another topic that just shows his position towards BPM. Him founding INB100 was just a cover up in joining BPM/One Hundred in my opinion, because of the poaching 'rumors'.

To make it more logical for you, lets look at the time frame and what happend:

2023 (before June 1) - Baekhyun and Kai meet MC Mong + conversation leaked (poaching scandal)

May 2023 - MC Mong denieing poaching attempt

June 1, 2023 - CBX are in the process of terminating their contracts with SM and filed a joint lawsuit in regards to transparency of earnings

June 19, 2023 - it was announced by SM that the contract dispute had been resolved, and the trio would be staying with the company moving forward

December 2023 - Baekhyun is founding INB100

January 8, 2024 - it was announced that the subunit's future activities and the members solo activities would be managed by INB100, while their EXO activities still remains under SM
(which means they signed a contract with SM in the presence of their lawer!)

May 16, 2024 - INB100 joining One Hundred as a sub label

June 10, 2024 - INB100 accuses SM of unfair practices in CBX deal

The accusions/argument:
- INB100 sending a content certification letter to SM and not receiving a response
- SM apparently promised a 5.5% music distribution fee to CBX, but it was not written in the contract (again: which they signed in presence of their lawer)
- SM demanded 10% of the artists individual activity revenue
- SM gave additional support to Baekhyun, including allowing his solo album release under his personal corporation and covering penalties for his canceled Japanese concert,
even though it was not written in the contract
- there seems to be an involvment of Kakao in the 5.5% music distribution fee


June 10, 2024 - the Fair Trade Commission began an on-site investigation into Kakao Entertainment, which is suspected of discriminatorily charging music distribution fees. This is a measure taken in response to BPMs report to the Fair Trade Commission early this year, requesting an investigation into the circumstances in which Kakao Entertainment discriminately charges distribution fees between agencies belonging to its affiliates and subsidiaries and other agencies.

June 12, 2024 - SM begins lawsiut against CBX, demanding that they fulfill their previously settled contract


My opinion on this
They kept denying that MC Mong was poaching them (probably to avoid tampering charges/lawsuits), so they resigned for group activities with SM. After a year they actually join One Hundred and coincidentally a week later they are trying to start a lawsiut about contract terms they already signed a year ago in presence of their lawer. They're trying to get out of those contracts now that they are with One Hundred. And again, they all signed the contract in presence of their lawer, so either their lawer is dumb as hell or this was planned from the start. SM has all right to demand a 10% activity revenue from CBX as they perform songs SM has the copyright to and still use their name which SM has a brand on. I agree on the 5.5% music distribution fee, but that part seems to be still unclear (and how dumb can you be to sign a contract which not includes it? wtf). I also think CBX and BPM is trying to throw shade at SM to sway public opinion in their favor, but korean fans aint dumb. Its the intern. fans that are swayed the most.

Anyways, lets see how court rules. There are a lot of details we dont know about, but this whole thing is just so fishy to me. And I usually have a good gut feeling.

BPM sint even promoting their artists properly (like Samuel didnt even have promotions).
and yes, there was an issue where his spotify was hacked, but I cant remember an official statement from BPM.

I had no idea about any of this. That is so messed up. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually am on SM's side for once, and they seem like the only reasonable ones involved in all this. MC Mong sounds awful and I hope that he goes bankrupt and goes to jail for a long time, but I sadly don't expect that to happen.

It's a Kpop company of course it's shady like even WM Entertainment has some shady things with them and that's the least controversial Kpop company I can think of that's been around a while so whatever is going on in BPM is what it is as long as it doesn't have a huge affect on Viviz I am not really bothered.

there was so much going on, I didnt even include evrything.
took some time to get the timeline right and some digging. for some reason I couldnt find anything about p_Arc Group.
as I`m a kpop fan since 2010, I rememberd the mc mong stuff, but was unaware of his homophobis comment.
that he went to jail was enough for me tbh. I`m still curious how he managed to bring in so many artist in such a short amount of time.
like, what did he promise them? when he cant even promote his artists well.

I`m worried about taemin the moment there were rumors of him joining bpm.
also the fact baekhyun influenced him on that decission.
its great to see shinee doing great together, but I wont believe anything until shinee has a cb.
