Think about the Roman Empire daily? If u are a male on this site, how many times do you think about the Roman Empire and WHY?



(Jokes aside i understand interest towards, but why this particular empire? )

Ig the Roman Empire is well known and probably considered macho because it’s about dudes wrestling lions in the colosseum and emperors doing emperor things (from public sentiment I think).

Yes there of course were other big empires, but I feel like people hear about the Roman Empire more than the other ones so that’s what they think about when they think of old empires. But that’s probably just a western thing, I doubt the rest of the world thinks that’s way. But it just depends on what you’re taught

True , we should learn more about African countries and south american. I barely know some stuff. Asia and North America more, but for real i learned most of what i know online. And even that is very small.

In the US they barely cover anything not American or European (and by American I mean USA, they barely cover American stuff from before the European settlers arrived). We learned a tiny amount of stuff in one of my classes but it was very little. I only learned about a lot of the rest of the world in my AP World History class, because it was part of the curriculum and because my teacher knew we learned almost exclusively about US and Europe, so he knew we needed catch up and could skim the European parts. But most students in the US don’t take AP World, it’s considered more advanced than a typical world history class (theoretically). I’ve forgotten a lot and obviously still wasn’t an expert on most of the world, it takes years to reach that. But I do know some about just about every major region, just not necessarily a lot. And it makes food more understandable because I have to wonder less about how an Asian ingredient made its way to Kenya or something

That's so cool you had a class like that. In high school we learned about our own history and ofc the world wars. Before that we skimmed through some countries but not all.:(
