Landfills constantly keep filling up. The waters keep getting dumped with toxins. And for what? Advancement of the world? And at what cost? Is replacing straws good enough? Not even close. But people make it a trend to care about the environment but its never a real thing.

The earth will survive. It knows how to self-correct. It may take a very long time, but it could do it.

What am I alone going to do? Most things that people put into recycling cannot actually be recycled so are thrown away regardless. If governments actually want to stop anything then they'll have to outlaw all plastics and non-biodegradable material, but they will not do that. Most things people think are sustainable are not and there is no solution to climate change that can be solved with technology in my opinion. I know what I'm about to say everyone is going to have a lot of opinions about, but I think we should de-industrialise completely to the level of technology that existed in the 19th century. Let's take what we've learned from our time in this carbon era and leave what we can't salvage behind. We've structured our society in a way that is fundamentally unnatural to exist and is slowly leading to our own destruction. In most countries and regions (103 in total) the fertility rate is below replacement level; do you not think that is completely grim? We've made a biological necessity of every single organism in the universe difficult and inconvenient as humans. The way our current society is remaining affloat is by keeping poor countries poor and undeveloped so the rich world can exploit their labour because we do not face the reality of the monster that our self-destructing modern society has created.

However, I do not view this societal collapse that I believe is inevitable soon as something to become nihilistic over. We are still living at the best time to be born in the entire human history. Different time periods of human history have come and gone and our recorded history is very short, and every single time in recorded history after a rough transition period the next "age" of our existence as humans begins and continues in an upward trajectory. Our living standards will decline worldwide but that doesn't mean we're going to be forced into Mad Max or Waterworld style scenario. Yes, climate change is a problem, but do not allow yourself to view our species in such narcissistic lens that we alone can cause the destruction of Earth. That will never happen. Life will flourish on Earth long after our extinction, evolution, or colonization of space. To quote Jurassic Park "Life finds a way"
