I think a large part of human nature at times, too, is to hate on things that are different than what you are used to and/or appeals to you. This is usually combatted with tolerance, maturity, and intelligence - but often times these individuals lack in those areas. This also happens, too, when self esteem and self image is particularly low in the person hating on and/or making fun of things such as in this manner.
Similarly like others have said, things that become trendy and are liked by others in mass quantities, people will also seek out to dislike, hate, and sometimes destroy because one, it's easier, and two, it makes them appear more superior and important to be involved in something that is trending and popular, even if it's against said thing.
At the end of the day, you have to keep your smile up and be comfortable in what you enjoy, and not let the negativity of others affect you in any way. You're allowed to enjoy what you enjoy (so long as it's not hurting you or others, or somehow illegal) and it's nobody's business otherwise!
