About 13 hours ago, I tortured myself again.
Yes... AGAIN
I have watched movie.
No. Not on Tubi this time but on HBO and ...WHEW~ let me tell ya!

Now... I am a Resident Evil stan
Those two words "Resident Evil" will make me consume anything - whether it's a big pile of ... You know what, I WILL consider consuming it if you tell me that it's from Resident Evil.
If you ask me how relevant that is, well, I have been baited into eating - metaphorically of course, a big pile of you know what by this movie's director who made the movies of Resident Evil... Btw, other pile of you know what in their own rights.
About the casting.
Milla Jovovich is incredible. Probably one of my favorite actress.
So that's a big positive.
Spoilers starts here so turn around if you intend on watching this.
The movie starts where we are presented with a... Cult? (I'm not even sure, it was never really explained)
This cult is preparing to hang an heretic by the name of Gray Alice. (Milla Jovovich)
She somehow manage to free herself by looking at one of the cultists. (Her powers were never truly explained)
Gray Alice kills the ones who were trying to hang her except the actual commander (It was never explained why)
Later, the Queen visit Gray Alice in her lair because she wants the power to shapeshift. Gray Alice accepts because she has a rule that she cannot refuse any requests (it was never explained why she can't refuse requests)
The General of the Queen's army however requests to make the Queen's request fail - which Gray Alice accepts. (It was never explained why he requested this.
Now, at this point, I am still intrigued about how can she make the Queen's request and fail it at the same time.
A bounty hunter or whatever he is, Boyce is presented. He is killing people and has an affair with the Queen while the King is dying? Sick? (Again, that was never explained)
For some reason, Gray Alice walk into a bar and went to meet Boyce. They play cards and then she wants to buy his skills to go outside the city and eventually defeat a shapeshifter to gain it's power and give them to the Queen.
At that point, I am thinking, what even am I watching...
Boyce accepts for the price of a watch. At least, I think it was.
Now, the cult interrupts them but Boyce and Gray Alice managed to escape.
The cult decides to chase them still because they can prove that the Queen is an heretic... So they can get the throne from her? I'm not even sure.
By the way, they kept hyping that the badlands (outside the city) was very dangerous. Yet, Gray Alice and Boyce come across a friend of Boyce and his... Girlfriend? (Again, never explained)
Anyway, the pair end up on some location in the badlands and they are searching for another friend of Boyce... (Weren't the badlands supposed to be dangerous and unfriendly?)
The Cult for some reason killed Boyce's friend before they got there and also killed his girlfriend and other friend that I didn't even remember were in the movie.
After that, a lot of things happen, they killed the commander or whatever she was of the cult. (Why didn't Gray Alice killed her the first time? I have no idea)
Eventually the Queen killed the king when she was pregnant with Boyce's child.
(??? Why??? I have no idea.)
Eventually some creature attacks Gray Alice and Boyce. Apparently Gray Alice knew these creatures. (At that time, I was extremely confused about what I was watching)
They get to the shapshifter's domain and we find out that Boyce is the shapshifter... Gray Alice kills him and return to the Queen but is met with the guy that wanted the Queen's request to fail.
She tells the guy that the Queen needs to wear the shapeshifter's skin and the power will be hers. The guy say something about him making a request for the Queen's request to fail.
Gray Alice replies that she granted both requests. (I can't even word what I was watching)
For some reason everyone and the Queen dies and Boyce gets resurrected. He is in love with Gray Alice.

Yeah, ok. I am not the best to recap a story but this movie is actually really trying to complicate everything and it makes zero sense.
Anyway, I thought that I would share it here.
