Wing’s Journey To Catching Up w/ Kpop (1 Viewer)

The last time I did one of these “catching up with Kpop” threads was I believe in January and I shall be honest, I still haven’t listened to most releases of this year. Ateez is the only group I’ve been keeping up with musically during my hiatus. I’ve heard a few other tracks from other groups but pretty much anything released in February and onwards I’ve yet to listen to. I really want to get caught up now though, I want to listen to NCT’s new stuff, Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s release, I wanna listen to Day6’s new stuff because I’ve been seeing them do so well recently and I wanna enjoy their new stuff with everyone else.
So I shall use this thread as the thread where I’ll be going through new releases, rating and giving a few of my thoughts as I catch up. I most likely won’t be mentioning all releases, especially if I don’t have much to say about it so If you happen to not see a certain song that’s most likely the reason.

Of course feel free to share your thoughts on any releases from this year as well.
This is from what I was working on before I disappeared from KS and the few other tracks I’ve managed to listen to. This just shows how far behind I am:

Taeyong - Tap( 6/10)
I don’t necessarily dislike it, I enjoy the verses but I’ve heard the chorus part so much on random videos that it’s kind of too much for me now.


Chungha - Eenie Meenie (2/10)
My Queen is back finally! But I really don’t like this song (besides the last chorus and Hongjoong’s part). It sounds very off to me.

NCT Dream - Smoothie (7/10)
Not my favorite title by them, but I don’t dislike it. Jisung's deep voice is stealing my soul.

VCHA - Only One (7/10)
I like it, it’s sweet and easy to listen to.

ILLIT - Magnetic (8/10)
Major ear worm, love the fairy/magical vibes.

Twice - One Spark (7/10)
Not my favorite from them, it doesn’t really stick out to me too much. Not bad though, still going on my playlist.

All (H)ours - Gotcha (8/10)
This reminds me of the sound of another nugu bg from a while back who I cannot remember the name of them or their songs but I can picture one of their MV’s clearly smh. Anyways, I like it a lot and will probably check out their bsides.

NMIXX - Dash (5/10)
I’m so sad I don’t like it. I like every part of the song, but I unfortunately don’t like it altogether this time. But I am really happy they returned to their old style because even if it’s a hit or miss it brings something new to the table imo.

TWS - Plot Twist (6/10)
I like that it’s a cute concept but the sound of the song just sounds extremely safe… Especially for a Hybe group, so to me nothing really stood out when listening to it.


P1Harmony - Killin It (8/10)
My new jam!!

Vanner - Jackpot (9/10)
I didn’t think I’d enjoy it but it became really addictive the more the song progressed. I do wish it was longer though.

DK (IKON) - LTNS (7/10) Reminds me of older Kpop, I really like it, it’s easy to listen to and overall really nice. My man also made a 4 minute song.

Seventeen - Maestro (5/10)
Love the pre-chorus and first half of the bridge but the rest of the song feels very lackluster and I want more from it tbh, it leaves a lot to be desired imo.


IVE - Heya (8/10)
It would be higher if it wasn’t for the first two rap parts, the bulk of this song though is extremely addictive to me though and the bridge is absolutely to die for it’s so pretty omg. This is Liz’s era.


Babymonster - Forever (10/10)
This is everything I want from a YG GG.



Ateez - Work (100/100)
You know it’s good when a song almost dethrones Queen Answer. SOTY by my Kings.


Nayeon - ABCD (9/10)
This was a major grower, however this song is so amazing and now I need to know what Nayeon will be doing next.


Kiss Of Life - Sticky (6.5)
I have mixed feelings with this song. I love the chorus but the verses just don’t add much to the song to me personally, it kind of just makes the song feel like it never really progresses.


Le Sserafim - Crazy (6.5)
I like this song, but I hear it so often it’s just overplayed at this point imo and the length of the song doesn’t help.


Katseye - Touch (7.5/10)
It’s catchy and easy to listen to, as with most songs nowadays though it’s way too short.


Meovv - Meow (2/10)
I like the vocalist’s voices and the instrumental for the dance break but I personally find this song annoying I’m so sorry.

So many songs, that must have taken a while Glad Heya scored well because I agree I’m going to suggest Welcome to the Show by Day6 and Masquerade by Craxy. Those two combined convinced me Spotify premium is a necessary thing
