News WORLD’S FIRST LAPRAS MASCOT DEBUTS IN MIYAGI PREFECTURE (1 Viewer)

Today, The Pokemon Company and Miyagi prefecture officially kicked off their Pokemon tourism campaign in Japan.

As part of the campaign, they made a real life mascot for Lapras, official Pokemon ambassador for Miyagi prefecture. Here’s how it looks like:

Besides Lapras mascots, The Pokemon Company and Miyagi prefecture have built custom Lapras cycle pods that tourists will be able to ride in some Miyagi prefecture lakes.

Earlier this year it was Geodude and now Lapras is also a mascot! The Pokemon Company is thriving!

Miyagi Prefecture is beautiful. But sadly so many tourists are put off from visiting because of the Fukushima disaster. So hopefully this will bring in more tourists.

And whilst on this topic. There's also a Pokemon themed train in the Tohoku Region that runs through Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures and this route was created to encourage tourism throughout local areas that was devastated by the tsunami and earthquake of 2011.
