Worldwide Day Of Play: A universal tragedy (1 Viewer)

I think anyone in the Gen Z or anyone who was a kid in the past 2 decades remembers the Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play. Ill explain it though for the uninformed. It was an event anually held on a random day in middle fall that would essentially stop all current programming starting with a bumper announcing that it would go off the air for 2-3 hours and then start playing an automated message repeated for the duration of the downtime stating that "It's Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day Of Play. We hate having high channel viewership so much that we're not playing any SpongeBob for 3 hours because we know that's 5 years in little kid time. Get up and go the fuck outside!". This extended to every Nick network so the main channel would go off, Teenick/The N would go off, Nick Jr would go off, Nicktoons would go off, and all of Nick's dot com websites for the corresponding channels would shut off services for the day. They even got Webkinz to shut down their service for Worldwide Day of Play 2011.
I personally remember it and i hated it so much. Why turn off the programming to influence kids to get out and move when they had shows based around going outside and activity like paradise run or their Nick GaS programs (even though that branch of the brand was sort of long dead by the time WWDOP became a thing)? It also just didn't work since anyone rich enough to have the orange channel generally also bought Disney or CN with it which had a wide catalog of shows you could watch while this nonsense took place. I like going outside and I did back then, but dont shut off my paid cable and then try to tell me WHEN to do it Mr Cannon.

yeah, that idea was pretty dumb. I also had Disney and CN (hell, I had a lot of cable channels!), so shutting of Nick programming wouldn't exactly get me to go out. lol
