I'm 16 and have unlimited data on my first phone.........
I know that might not really seem that bad, but pretty much everybody I hear at school complains that they don't have enough data or that they've run out or that they can't connect to the school wifi bc they can literally see what you're doing at the district office on literally any device connected to the school wifi, or they're always asking for a hotspot.......meanwhile i'm just here like "I don't have to deal with this- what do I say "

Mine isn't unlimited at 120g a month but it might as well be
understandable since we need tech a lot these days

my mom got a smart phone in 2015, a Samsung Galaxy J7 (yes, she did have a slide phone plus multiple flip phones until then. I never called her old or old fashioned bc that's all I knew existed lol). My dad refuses to let her update it. It's so slow and glitchy and honestly, she does need a new model. When I got my phone, my mom already had unlimited data by then (only Abt two years prior bc during the lockdown, I'd kill her data by watching YouTube on her phone and she was pissed at my dad bc he had it and wasn't letting her get it T^T) and we were able to get a deal if we added on another phone with unlimited data to the plan: disney+ and Hulu bundle for like 8 dollars a month. Get this: when my mom got her phone, it came with a tablet for an extra 10/mo and he was addicted to that thing. He got a used phone later on, then got one from work, and then got a brand new one. He literally had 3 phones and a tablet that he brought EVERYWHERE including the chargers that he'd stand in literal stores and restaurants to use...still does....now he brings extension chords with him. Anyways, has she gotten a new phone in 10 years? no. Me and her are planning on making a trip to go get one behind him and she also wants to get the smart watch that can be added on for 10/mo (sound familiar) and he keeps saying "it'll cost 10/mo to add it on"....we know....he just doesn't want her to do it. he's essentially lost all control of us since we moved out but for some reason he still tries :/

anyways, me getting unlimited data was mainly so we could pay for both streaming services for cheaper

Pretty much everyone I know has unlimited data, but it’s also not that expensive here

When I got my first phone, I had no data. But when my brother got his first phone, I had 2GB of SHARED data (between 3 people). Having data at all was seen as a luxury. I how have 50GB all to myself so no need to worry anymore I think it all comes down to what is available in your area and the cost. If the cost is low, like some people here mentioned, it makes sense to have it.

dang it was like first come first serve
we still had 5 people living in one house (one brother already moved out) by the time my mom got her phone and we knew that doing that would never last amongst us for more than a few hours ;-; so we just didn't get it at all except for her

I did too, now its unlimited, Idc, some have, some dont, if they need to dos mth important, they can borrow my internet for 5 minutes, otherwise not my issue

I don't have a hotspot and I've had a few people get upset Abt that bc they'll see me doing things on my phone that require data and they blame me for using it all so they can't use it

unlimited data is the best ngl i'd call this unusual if the person in question was like 9, but at 16 most people i knew had unlimited data too so they didn't ask me or anyone to use it but honestly if they weren't close friends of mine i'd just tell them no, they're not the ones paying for it after all

I have unlimited data yes, but I used up my storage which causes my phone to shut out of apps randomly, or my screen to turn off, every one in a while I clear up some space and it comes right back like I have over 7,000 media in my phone. So I should delete some pictures while my phone still functions normally
