I'm thinking of reading the original source material for the show aka Tian Ya ke
Currently I am camped here

How do you like her writing? I plan on reading shapolang as my first priest novel after I finish the one im reading now (The Daily Task of Preventing My Disciple from Turning to the Dark Side, which I do recommend btw!!! It’s really funny)
I hear she’s lighter on romance and heavier on plot, which I dislike because gay romance is the whole point for reading these lol

Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre

This trilogy of books is so popular in China they have been made into movies and especially shows quite a few times. Seems every two years this trilogy gets remade into a new show.

This will be the second work of Priest that I will be reading, the first being Guardian and if her writing was the same way back when she wrote tyk then I am all about it because I love heavy plots and lighter romance!

I think I have heard about these but never really took it seriously. Seems like I need to change that

Wuxia (武俠 wǔxiá) – literally means “Martial Heroes”. Fictional stories about regular humans who can achieve supernatural fighting ability through Chinese martial arts training and internal energy cultivation. Themes of chivalry, tragedy, revenge & romance are common.

Xianxia (仙侠 xiānxiá) – literally means “Immortal Heroes”. Fictional stories featuring magic, demons, ghosts, immortals, and a great deal of Chinese folklore/mythology. Protagonists (usually) attempt to cultivate to Immortality, seeking eternal life and the pinnacle of strength. Heavily inspired by Daoism.

• Comparison: If Wuxia is “low fantasy”, then Xianxia is “high fantasy”.
