it was wrong then and it is wrong now. saying "that's just how it is" doesn't give the industry an opportunity to change. also just because these idols debuted at that age doesn't mean they felt comfortable with it in the long term, if you asked them whether they'd choose the idol career if given the chance again many of them would say no.

This is why I avoid groups with underaged idols. Well if it's a group with idols above 18, and 1 or 2 idols are like 16 or 17 that's fine too for me. But younger than that, or if all idols are underaged it gets really uncomfortable for me. Hence why I don't even bother checking out New Jeans. And the fact that idols are getting younger and younger when they debut is concerning me.
Do you remember when P nation was almost debuting a boy group with 12/13 year old boy? I'm so glad that they didn't in the end.

it really is, behind these minors there are always grown adults telling them what to perform and wear. like you can't tell me you believe red velvet genuinely sang about wanting to eat cake in ICC. of course i don't think that every adult stanning a group with minors is inherently creepy but all the problems with that could've been avoided if they started debuting young adults instead.

in general its weird how we comment on minors' appearances. a friend of mine told me that she doesn't let adults comment on her kids' appearances, and tells her kids to correct them. cuz not only are we valuing the outside over the inside, but it contributes to an entire problem of kids growing up with body dysmorphia and really dangerous and disordered eating habits. kids should be kids; not thinking about how attractive they look.

i cringe at those parents sharing pictures of their babies and stuff on facebook or insta. like thats gonna 99% of the time end up in a dark web pedo community
the question is: did for example tzuyu want to debut at that age? or somi? i think they did cause they tried for the shows. so as long as the said teen decides to follow a dream and risk their childhood and privacy, the parents agree, do we really get a say about it?
now is it a risk? totally. creeps are gonna take advantage? 100%. but why cant a teen decide what they wanna do?
