Y’know what bugs me about people who watch survival shows (1 Viewer)

Of course not all, but those who say that all survival shows are rigged. Ever since Mnet got caught with rigging, nobody can do voting manipulation anymore. They do use tactics like evil editing to attempt to change the outcome but at the end if the day its up to the viewer to not fall for it. At the end of the day, it’s up to voters. Keep voting for your favourite trainees, don’t let your guard down and don’t assume they are safe. What’s even worse is when people start hating on those who did make the lineup, instead of supporting their eliminated faves in future activities​

didn't gp999 have some sort of manipulation in that votes for the Korean contestants count like 10 times that of the Chinese and Japanese ones?

like yes they don't outright change the votes but they can change other things that effectively mean the same thing?

That goes along the same idea as evil editing. The votes are still the votes at the end of the day. Some trainees just don’t have a huge one-pick fanbase despite making an appearance in people’s lineups (like Yurina and Fuko)

I guess that comes down to what is considered manipulation since for some people they didn't realise that votes counted differently and thus one could argue that that counts as vote manipulation...

also if I remember correctly they never told anybody how many contestants would make the final lineup and from which regions (until like the final few episodes) which again may be considered manipulation (or rigging)

I haven't watched anything post gp999 so I'm not sure if any of the survival shows after that had any issues...

We were led to believe that it would be 3, 3, and 3 but looking back it was never specifically stated one way or another. The “cell” idea just made things confusing

and that's why to some people that might be considered manipulation/rigging...

can you imagine like Eurovision suddenly saying well because of past differences votes from UK to France only counted for 1/10 of the vote and vice versa????

Well Eurovision has existed for like forever and Girls Planet was an entirely new survival show after the whole Produce debocal. But the whole point I was trying to make initially was that people claim its rigged and then hate the members who did make the lineup. For example, in Iland2, Mai gets a lot of hate and is called a dozen. People wanted Fuko to get in instead

that's just SOME kpop fans in general though no?
you still have some people hating on bahiyyih to this day

hell it doesn't even have to be survival shows if one member gets like 10 seconds of screentime more than another you bet your ass that SOME people will be posting comments about it

People still claim Bahiyyih to be a dozen too… which she very clearly is not. And honestly so what if her brother is already in the industry - so many idols have family members with ties to the industry. It doesn’t make them any less talented. Someone is always upset about something. And 9 times out of 10 it’s something stupid and insignificant

100% agree my friend - which is why I just enjoy my favs in peace and quiet compared to say social media
or at least on KPS where most people are understanding

hell some of the haters know more about the group they hate than I do

yeah... and most of the time, at least in my personal experience, the contestants they're bitter about don't even go anywhere anyway, or they lose interest eventually. Like, there was this American Idol contestant by the name of James Durbin, and people were so, so, SO PISSED that he didn't win... and guess what? afaik he never reached that global fame everybody wanted him to have. Y'all probs don't even know who I'm talking about, either!

eta even the winner (Scotty McCreery), while he has multiple albums, never gets radio play (not on my country stations, anyway). But you know who does? His runner-up, Lauren Alaina!

Exactly! I always noticed that most runner ups get the most fame than winners. Also like you mentioned the contestants that people get bitter about losing don't reach that status
