In fact, everyone probably is mispronouncing something. Like modern Arabic and Hebrew, ancient Egyptian writing often didn’t write vowels. This means that while we have the names of important figures recorded, the vowels in the name are anyone’s guess. Take Hatshepsut as an example. Maybe her name was really Hatshapset. Or Hetshepsit. Or Hotshepsot. Or many more. We just can’t tell from Egyptian hieroglyphs alone.
