honestly speaking i dislike most kpop video essays bc i find them exploitative or insensitive, clickbaity, too opinionated etc thats why i stick with like culture or other media related video essays is i feel there are more youtubers who have sharpened their craft

yeah esp internetnathan and the like
it's basically a glorified wikipedia read + some major news articles throughout the years

doesn't take away the effort they made into editing the video, but the research and depth put into the actual content is subpar I'm sorry I just do not like the video title style either

yeah when i watch a channel like accented cinema or lessons from the screenplay etc it's hard to feel like those channels have anywhere near the dedication and hard work put into them. It feels like they just regurgitate very obvious information, like they call out these companies for "mistreating their idols" when anyone who knows kpop knows that already that basically every company is a piece of shxt. feels like they are trying to take credit for a discovery that everyone already knows about

yeah, at times those channels do feel like those poorly made personality quizzes lmao
older fans who've been actively following certain groups can be absolute goldmines in terms of information, they tend to be more neutral/critical of newer events which is nice
those essays are great if you'd rather not wikipedia read about the career of a certain group, but to take it as the gospel truth is just... a bad idea
actual fans are much better sources
