I was raised with my parents very absent from my life with no real rules (they were lucky I was a very good kid so I've turned out fine), so my decisions are heavily impacted by that.

I want to have a lot of kids, so I want to have relatively structured home & I'm moving to Japan so keep that in mind when reading my answers as I answered them how I expect to raise them rn on my current life trajectory.


1) phones - none until high school
2) dating - strongly depends on who they want to date but most likely not
3) lgbgtq - i'm gay idc
4) drinking - not at my house
5) smoking - don't you even try
6) sleepovers - sure
7) clothes - dress modestly (not like ultra-conservative modesty)
8) hair - no dying or hairstyles that will make you stand out in a bad way (no mohawks etc)
9) money - allowance of an unspecified amount
10) job - cannot have one in school
11) grades - you're responsible for your own grades until you get close to failling because you have demonstrated that you cannot be trusted to make good grades without supervision.

Phones: It will depend on a wide variety of factors, including their maturity, but most likely not until they’re at least sixteen. I just want them to be careful with them, and be responsible enough to not use them during school or a job and things like that.

Dating: Not until they’re sixteen, and then, only group dates (or having me come with and supervise them if they’d rather) until they’re eighteen. Dating a bunch of people and getting to know them is encouraged, instead of only dating the same guy over and over, but I likely won’t enforce it as a rule, just encourage it.

LGBTQ+: Awesome! I’m one too! Just do research into it to discover all the different labels and see which one fits you best. I’ll support you no matter how you identify. If it changes, obviously that’s fine too.

Drinking: Absolutely zero alcohol of any kind, no matter what, until you’re of legal drinking age, and even then, don’t do it in my house. I’d prefer you didn’t do it at all, but once your an adult, it’s your choice at the end of the day, and as long as it’s in moderation, it’s okay. Mocktails are completely fine though at any age, just no actual alcohol.

Smoking: No smoking until you’re legally old enough to, and not in my house. I’m not a fan of the smell or effects of second hand smoke. Once again, I’d prefer you didn’t do it, but once you’re old enough to, it’s ultimately your decision. No drugs at all though. Just say no.

Sleepovers: Heck yeah! Have all of those you want! Just do them only at my house, or at the house of someone I know, until you’re thirteen, just so I know you’re safe and not getting hurt. After that, sure, but make sure it’s with people you trust.

Clothes: Wear whatever you want, as long as it’s modest (no cleavage, no stomach showing, shoulders are covered and skirts or pants are knee length or longer). If you go to a school with a school uniform, wear that during school. No breaking the school dress code.

Hair: Do whatever you want to with your hair, but don’t dye it or give it a perm more than once a year (to avoid excessively damaging it) until you’re eighteen, then you’re an adult and do whatever.

Money: You’ll get a weekly allowance, but bonus money for helping with chores. Use it however you want to, as long as you don’t spend it on stuff you’re not supposed to have, and don’t spend money you don’t have, or go in debt over stuff (once you’re an adult, then you can go in debt).

Job: You can get a job as soon as you’re old enough to, but ONLY if you actually want one AND can maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher with one. You must also apply for jobs and go to interviews yourself too (obviously), but I’ll give you all the transportation you need to and from the job for free, and even let you drive yourself sometimes if have a learner’s permit or license and would rather do that.

Grades: All A’s is ideal, but I can live with A’s and B’s. Once any of your grades get to be a C or below, go to tutoring until they improve, or research online, on your own time, what you’re having a hard time understanding until you understand it. I can even help you understand the material if you’d like.
