ill come back to this later today but, i reallly REALLY REALLY wish they would prioritize the types of song they expect the final group to do.

like 999 giving more points to the bg songs that no way in hell they are going to be like.

It does zero good to pick members who are so going to miss the final concept.

For example as much as i like Kaeun she was a horrid fit for IZ*ONE.

Chowon was iffy at best, skills aside i can see why the pd cut her. Her most accessible moment was bby granted it the only bby version i can watch.

I don't think I necessarily have a problem with them doing songs and concepts that the actual group isn't going to do. Of course you would want to put an emphasis on the kind of group you're looking for in the performance rounds BUT to me a contestant stands out the most when they are able to adapt to multiple different concepts. This doesn't mean that the contestant has to sacrifice part of their own self in order to conform to a concept that doesn't match them but it speaks to their determination and talent and hard work that they can perform to the best of their ability regardless of what song they are asked to perform.

I don't think we can even say what concept that GP999 final group is going to be at this point. And I don't think that they should have such a strong idea of what they are looking for in terms of looks and concept because it is completely unfair to contestants that can't meet them on a visual department. I know we can't expect much out of MNET but the absolute least they can do is not restrict the contestants on visual criteria they have no control over.

One thing I can say is that I don't like that the songs are worth different amounts of points based on a perceived "difficulty". It's a little shady that the boy groups songs are "worth more" because it shouldn't matter the original gender of the performers, a choreo is hard and a song is hard regardless of that.

This is exactly my issue with jeon soyeon she proved incapable of preforming other peoples music she has to write it to be able to do it.
that is a flaw for a girl group member its fine in a soloist but not as a group.

push them like they did in pd 101 make the hip hop kids do snsd. ect.

i hated the dance song choices for pd 48 one sorry not sorry song is fine , hand clap is at least fun and upbeat.

Eunbi and Chaeyeon as the 'strongest' members of izone were able to show they had versatility.

A stereotypically cool concept focused boy contestant in Produce X 101 was forced into doing a cute song once but it's rare. It would be better for the the competition itself to force contestants to do songs that are possible for them but require a lot of hard work. A girl crush girl can do a cute concept if she is given the right training and vice versa.

i guess the best example was BBY team 2 in pd 48 those girls made it to round 2 because they were able to do something way way way out of their zone.

But you are right. Maybe the mentors should assign the songs.

I would add this is also one of my default positions. Skill allows versatility.

pretty much why i value SM artists the most. give them a song and a concept and they eat it up.

I cant remember a execution fail from a sm act no matter the song. And they get strange songs at times.
Heck the bg even kill gg songs with out making a joke of the song.

This is not true for the most of the rest.
