I feel like it's going to be hard when you consider that rigging is part of the system tbh even if the numbers aren't tampered with
wjjw folks naturally get a push from chuang because the final group is always managed by them, same with jaywalk newjoy folks for acting resources, zhang yifan because tencent wanted exclusive broadcasting rights to tfboys' concert, patrick and nine for tencent's thai expansion deal with their label, zhao xiaotang because of her company too, yu shuxin because of passersby fans from her viral memes, etc

There's this big redd.it thread explaining all the changes currently

This article provides a bit more context on why the crackdown happened, but a few days ago Chinese authorities had published a 10-point list aimed at rectifying 'toxic fan culture' and preventing 'celebrity worship/deification', which included measures such as:
  • banning all forms of celebrity ranking - rankings of works (music, drama, etc. ) can still exist, but they cannot be tied to names of individual celebrities
  • [platforms/agencies/etc.] cannot provide inducement to fans to spend money for celebrities - displaying sales/votes rankings and tying missions/corners in shows to mechanisms which require spending are explicit examples of behaviour that should be discontinued
  • strictly monitor/control the involvement of minors - prohibit minor participation in any form of fan support which requires spending, prohibit minors from assuming leadership positions in fansites/fanclubs, etc.
  • regulate fundraising projects - strictly monitor platforms/organisations (including non-chinese ones) which encourage/participate in fundraising projects which do not align with the points above
  • making it explicit that agencies are responsible for fan behaviour - platforms should give celebrities and agencies which encourage fanwars and other toxic behaviour less exposure, or even none at all
It has only been a few days but some drastic changes have already happened: iQiyi, which produced Youth With You and Idol Producer, have announced they will no longer do idol survival programmes; QQ, the largest Chinese streaming platform, has banned repeat purchase of the same song/album (ie. mass downloading, digital sales inflation); after a massive fanwar, agencies of Zhao Liyin and Wang Yibo (UNIQ member and The Untamed actor) have been asked to meet up with authorities to discuss their mismanagement of fans.

The Kpop industry as a whole is definitely not as reliant on the Chinese market as it was a decade ago, but there are still specific groups which benefit from a large Chinese fandom. For these groups, I think the most obvious impact would probably be a decrease in physical sales as bars/fansites have to be incredibly cautious about raising funds for bulk purchases. Online fansigns hosted by Chinese platforms, which allow international participation, would probably also be discontinued, affecting physical sales in general. Can the impact of these measures seep into other aspects of the Kpop industry?

And on a bigger level, given how much less profitable the market will become after this, will it still be worth the hassle for Kpop agencies to do promotions which cater specifically to the Chinese market? (Looking at you LSM)

yeah, I've read about it
cp supertopic rankings are already down, and all those big ranking systems have decided to make their rankings private for investors only
snh has already been called out a lot (wrongly too) about fundraising, and tsh's ssks are this fall so who knows what'll happen there

ofc the big issue of yxhs hasn't been touched by the qinglang campaign yet, or the glaring difficulty in that no other platform has been so accommodating of fandom like weibo has been

So willl they come clean about rocket girls too?

ifrc votes dropped from the mid show reveal to the final count for some of teh girls.
no, only starting from qcyn2 because the data for earlier seasons are "gone"
but off the top of my head everyone in the9 will have their rankings be different (save for lyx), the snh48 girls on qcyn2 will likely be earning back the millions of votes disappeared (especially mohan), zyf will be in more trouble, ak oscar keyu jiayuan will probably turn up with having their votes inflated more than their peers at some point in the show, I guess there will finally be a conclusion for caelan and yiyang fans too
the issue I see popping up with this investigation though is that it doesn't account for editing bias throughout the shows that would affect the rankings
like in the case of into1, there were really only 2 wild card spots: they wanted keyu (from jaywalk which houses many actors and acting resources) as center, oscar (hot idol which manages yuqi, xu ziyin, etc) in, either patrick or nine in (tencent wanted a deal with their company for their thai expansion, both got in), either rikimaru or santa in (avex, they're both top dancers), at least one intersection guy in (avex, and the american side of them to make the group more "international" but all three of them took off too much), zhang jiayuan because he's a wjjw kid (wjjw manages the final group), ak for a rapper
obviously oscar didn't take off as much as they anticipated so they dropped him during the 3rd stage, and liu yu took off way better than expected, and keyu got in two significant scandals, but them getting 8/9 of their pushes into the final group is nothing to scoff at, even if they technically didn't rig (they never do) any of the final numbers
