lmao... but still cultural habits persist.. If not I would have been wearing flip flops by now since I moved to Western US 5 years ago... and everyone wears them here and I cry every time I see it.

The only parallel I can draw was when I was sent to summer camp and they basically took the clothes we brought with us and said that we could only wear the clothes they provided us with. Which were basically t-shirts and jeans... but any shirts that endorsed alcohol, cigarettes, or gambling were banned.

I was a baby when I moved though, so I don't have those cultural habits. And I don't like flipflops either, though they're not that common here

I agree. The only thing that occurs to me is that someone somehow in charge, or having a say on it, had a jeans fetish and thus decided to object on them.
