I typically just pick a song I like, click "start radio," and find new (and unheard old) songs that way.

Every now and then I'll click on a suggested video from YouTube (most recent example being a "Secret Number" song.)

That's about all the branching out I do, nowadays.

I often check out songs that Spotify recommends me but I don't really intentionally go looking for new things unless I have some clear incentive, like if someone I know just debuted etc.

Yes!! everytime nct and exo suggests a song aside from kpop to listen, I would always give it a try and most of the genres are actually fits my taste so I enjoy it so much!!
