to sum it all up, former k-pop idol jae from day6 called singer jamie (who he's been friends with for a long time) a "thot" during a twitch stream and she tweeted that it made her upset. he then claimed that this derogatory term meant something else than it actually did and apologised on twitter.

I personally don´t mind her that much, I have watched some of her interviews and she can be funny, I do have a bit of a more harsher sense of humour but even I have to say she sometimes comes off as "too much" and I understand it is her brand in a way, but it is surprising how people don´t talk about it here since Jae´s comments that are far from Jessi´s level cause such a stir. if anything, both deserve criticism. THAT I WOULD CALL FAIR. but the whole covno is just very "men can´t joke about women" but no one, literally no one has said how it is not ok to joke about men in the same way?

exactly, i dont mind when a girl calls me a bitch or hoe as long as its lighthearted because reclaiming a slur is an attempt to neutralize the slur and give it a positive association. men cant reclaim these slurs because it will always have a negative undertone when they say it, unless the positive connotation has become so normalized that it overshadows the negative meaning, which it has not.

jessi has been called out for many things too, but i dont understand why she's suddenly being brought into this discussion? you're saying she has a divisive sense of humor and makes crude jokes, but overly sexual jokes and calling someone slurs are two entirely different conversations. its not like she doesnt get her fair share of criticism for her black-cent and jokes either.. anyway, i dont like when discussions suddenly turn into finger pointing and "what about them"s so i'll leave it at this.

I have brought her up because I have seen at least three threads about Jae in the past days but none about Jessi ... like ever whenever it was the Twice scandal or whatever else before. so I was just curious why are people on here so quick to criticize Jae. I just wonder why, I know she gets criticized on other forums and places, but not here.

I was asking why no one was discussing Jessi´s controversial scandals here, but why everyone is quick to do so with Jae. I was just being curious. I am sure she is dragged in other places. perhaps it is just a momentary feeling but it feels like people are finer with Jessi´s behaviour whenever she is calling a man sexy etc. but if a man did it it would be sexist (now I am drifting away from the topic) but I am just showing how the standards are different.
I found it odd how often people were saying how it is terrible for a man to say it. which I thought (and was assured) was meant to take as if "woman" says that term it is okay. apparently it is and my understanding of it is a bit different, but it is why we discuss things.
