I don't think my name really unique nor is it hard to pronounce

when i was young, one of my teacher always messed up my name and pronounced it in like a shortened version

it was annoying to the ears

Foreigners yes, they always think it has two L's instead of just 1.

If they hear it before they see it, they think it’s spelt with a Y at the end rather than an I. I’m not too bothered though. Americans pronounce it different too.

It was always mispronounced in school. Then misspelled in college and even now in emails -- even though one could clearly see my name.

Mispronunciation stopped probably after a celebrity got famous.

yes all the time, my mom gave me a german family name, and everyone spells it as petra and pronounces it as peetria

Yes, it’s pretty straightforward; said like it’s spelled, but people still always get it wrong. Attendance on the first day of school just causes confused (or confident) attempts at pronouncing it or just “do you have a nickname”
