Haha, I’ll explain it using myself as an example.

I started primary school aged four in September 1995. I started high school aged eleven in September 2002, then left in May 2007, which is when compulsory education ends. You can start college if you’re aged sixteen and over, and can then go to university if you’re aged eighteen and over.

Oh our college is basically what you guys call university

I know in some asian countries their high school is only the two years you guys call college too

I do remember my cousin going to finish high school at 16 when I vistited years ago

Yeah our schools want us out in the real world sooner than what most of us would want, our final two years in high school are also basically exams and not a lot else (we’re taught almost zero actual life skills either, just to make it extra spicy)
