Does gradual death of forums in general pain you (1 Viewer)

I noticed that forums are basically blast from the past existing in an age of the horrible horrible horrible thing called social media. I grew up using forums all the time as a kid and spent a big part of my days refreshing and scrolling forums so it feels a bit like constricting snake when you realize the state of forums these days. I don't think I'll ever warm up to Twitter, too fast-paced for me, it is like Shibuya crossing of internet world and the format makes it harder to have substantial discussions for me, at least.

I guess its a forgone conclusion that forums will die a slow & painful death, with the huge communities of social media, users will always choose to be there. Thankfully though, there are niches where forums still excel at, what we can do as site operators is to try to stem that slow death and try to entice newer users to join.

It gives me heavy nostalgia of my teenage days, it bothers me in that sense. Otherwise, I do not mind that much. I am fine using social media as well.

Yeah, forums are still go-to platforms for communities with more demographic emphasis in the older folks. One of the most active forums I came across was a fishing forum which checks out because the oldies will 8/10 times be bamboozled by Twitter and all its glitz.

It pains me to say that I've been loyal member of a forum that at its halcyon days would get server issues for overloading and nowadays it is a washed up corpse. And even that was a niche-y community as well, most have migrated to Discord especially the more technologically able folks.

I used to post on Liverpool Football Club’s official forum for years, and then me and the regulars I spoke to moved over to Twitter because it just got boring (plus we used the freeloader part which had opening/closing times)

Here at KPS though because Kpop (and Korean entertainment in general) is more broader and we talk about all artists, it still serves its purpose well.

other than KS my internet presence is basically nonexistent so neither the rise of other social media nor the fall of forums affect me but it's sad to see

lol i only use twitter and all sm to do kpop ..

Mostly just for my thread ideas.

fb is legacy and has family and some friends. but mostly i refuse/ ignore all new friend requests.

I'm not sure they'll actually die, maybe not. I don't think they'll get past glories back; but I think they may just come and go.

It's sad to see them go. I enjoy the forum culture.
