HKT48 has a new generation.
8 of the new members are 13 or younger... there is a 10 yearold and multiple 11 yearolds

I am here to rant about why this is so horrifying
there is no excuse for debuting 10 yearolds. There is simply not a single one. There is only one explanation and that is pedophilia.
This is elementary school kids working actual jobs. Kids should not be working. A 10 yearold should be at home, with friends using hairbrushes as microphones putting on pretend concerts, not in a practice room for hours practicing for an ACTUAL concert.

What does a 10 yearold offer that a 15 yearold doesn't??? People might say, oh idol fans see them as their younger sibling or maybe their daughter and I call absolutely fucking bullshit. Of course there is idol fans who see them that way, but the majority of jpop idol fans are middle aged men.

Are you trying to tell me a 15 year old is too old for a middle aged man to see as their daughter or younger sibling?????????

I totally agree with 14 being too young as well. In japan I'd say the kids gets treated a BIT better, especially considering in AKB they aren't locked into the group for 7 years and are able to leave (but it's still creepy)

Idols under 13 should not be debuting in my opinion, and even at that, companies should be protecting these young idols. Ten is way too young, let them be kids. I get there are restrictions for young idols (like how late they can stay at award shows for example) and they can still complete a GED for high school. But sometimes thats not enough especially when they’re debuting before they even hit middle school. My youngest bias is 14, and I fit into the category of wanting to protect a young idol like a sibling. Unfortunately there are some truly disgusting people in this world who aren’t respectful and will exploit and sexualize literal children. I can’t see the excuse for a ten year old debuting at all. They wanna chase their dreams, sure fine, but they can audition for an idol company when they’re a teenager or an adult, not a literal child. Not sure how much hkt trainees make, or how often this 6th gen? will be on stage. But i would guess its better than baby sitting money.

Its a fair point. Just the Disney melt downs are enough to really question the stress on the child performer.

Entertainment has and most likely will always get a carve out in the labor laws, Not sure how you are ever going to get that reversed.
