Just a general question.
But I was thinking about it the other day.
I was listening to a song and HATED it.
Then was like I could NEVER be an idol because I'd have to pretend to like every group's music.
Then I felt bad thinking that idol's genuinely cant' have many public opinions
without either facing harsh criticism or getting dragged by netizens.

I mean if an Idol for example said they didn't like a SuperJunior song it's be considered SUPER
disrespectful. So idols kind of have to pretend they like music when they maybe don't.
That would drive me up a wall.

What do you think?

(I'm comfortable at all times expressing my thoughts on music but not political things and more simply because even as a regular person expressing any opinion can get you fired sometimes and DOXXed and other shit-but at LEAST I can say how I feel about music & art in general, unlike Kpop idols.)

Not really because that's kind of just life nowadays where anything can be controversial as there's social pressure to be considerate of other peoples feelings and people will think the worst of you if you cross a line.

Expressing opinions about music though shouldn't be controversial is the issue in my opinion. Like that is such a trivial thing.

It shouldn't but anything that someone can have a connection to can make a person defensive when they hear it being criticised even with food people will say "you just haven't had good ____" not being able to accept someone just might not like it.

i feel bad for them having their personalities molded by the companies but not being open to dislike a song isn't a part of it, i think if they have nothing nice to say about their colleagues they should just keep it to yourselves. it's not just a kpop thing since western celebrities aren't also going out saying "i thought XYZ's latest album was not good" that often.

I mean I don't expect them to go out of their way to express dislike for a certain artist's music I just mean in general they have to pretend like they like something when they maybe don't necessarily like something. Like during performances or dance challenges and things along those lines. But if an interviewer did ever ask them what they thought of a groups music or song I just feel bad that they may not be able to give their honest thoughts.

I don't think it would personally bother me because I usually don't mention songs I don't like or am meh about in general with notable exceptions. I don't know what kind of world it'd be like if idols could be honest about each other's music or concept I wouldn't want it to become an industry where eventually you can shit on each other and it's just okay, it would encourage fans to act that way too.
