Question regarding Jessicas book SHINE (1 Viewer)

I just watched this video and this is the first time I'm hearing about what the contents of her book are about. Damn this some juicy stuff.

But with me being way more of a f(x) fan I'm mostly curious about the stuff regarding Krystal. Is it true that Taeyeon and Sooyoung held a grudge against Krystal because their younger sisters didn't make it in like Krystal did? They said in this video they were kind of shady towards her.

Honestly, since Jessica was my bias I'm definitely more invested in what I think was me being correct when she got kicked out. It was a group decision not SOLELY a company decision.

I explained it a bunch when it first happened. But SNSD was one of the biggest groups SM ever produced. The girls had solo careers, units, promotions, and modeling gigs and were raking in a lot of money. To top it off they all had the funds to buy out of their contracts if they wanted to which could've possibly been an ultimatum given to SM. SNSD didn't need SM, SM moreso needed SNSD at the time. I mean they are iconic.

If they came to SM letting them know that they aren't happy with Jessica and her side gig or business I fully believe they could've gotten Jessica kicked out. To top it off if I remember correctly when news first broke there was also mention of the members' parents being involved. I think if it was Jessica vs the rest of the group...the group ultimately would win. To top it off it's pretty clear that Jessica didn't necessarily have BEEF with SM. She continued to be with SM after the entire situation happened. She just wasn't part of SNSD.

They've done the opposite for their boy groups, where there's public backlash but the other members insisted on keeping the "problematic" one

I always felt that way as well but everyone just called me a hater-I don't even hate Taeyeon I just think she's stubborn and when she makes up her mind it's made up.

There were already alarm bells for me surrounding Jessica leaving due to the timing, but EXO’s support made me think Jessica’s exit was SNSD related rather than SM’s doing.

A different topic, but when Chen announced he was getting married and becoming a father, SM released a statement that specified Chen was staying at the request of the EXO members themselves. They were also blatantly mad at the specific group of EXO-L (ace members of their fanclub) for how they reacted to Chen’s news.

Great point to bring up. Guys are usually just way more chill. Jealousy is rarely an issue.

If I had to theorise, I’d think that the SNSD thought that Jessica’s clothing line would make Jessica’s popularity go above SNSD’s (if that makes sense)

It’s easy for me to make comparisons between them and EXO, but even given how huge Yixing is as a soloist, never once has he (or EXO) let it affect their relationship. They’re proof the balance can be there.

I have always felt that J & K was more the reason than B & E. B & E was a handful of sunglasses at the time. but saying they hated a fully sanctioned duet of the jung sis is horrid optics.
Post 9/30 Krystal pretty much hated the ground SNSD walked on. Collapsed at the sm town in Oct 2014 and never went again until that final one in 2019. the only concert f(x) had in Korea snsd was in Taiwan so Jessica and Red velvet were at the concert.
Krystal may have actually been senior to snsd with all the acting commercial gigs she did as a kid. Although fx was surely junior.

But J & K was a brand. SM had spent considerable effort building that brand.
They always got solo stages at sm town.
J & K the show was a Hit, and had already been offered a season 2.
J & K had cut an album, this was pre any solo stuff by Amber, Taeyeon, or Tiffany.
pretty sure both left the dorms first to live at home together with the folks.
Jessica had always been top 3 no matter the country. And OFC Krystal was Krystal.

as to Taeyeon and Sooyoung's siblings
Taeyeon does have a younger sister(and an older brother), but she is a 98. Her family is from a long ways away so i doubt she wanted her in pre 2012-14 ish. (Haeyeon did join sm we think for a bit after RV debut, but she went solo with youtube covers ect in like 2015.) she released a digital single in 2020 with some no name agency.
Sooyoung has an older sister who has done musical theater. Soojin is a 86 and 3 years older than the bulk of snsd. She was in a tv episode with sooyoung in 2008 ish.

none of the other girls have a younger sister.
Yuri has a scumbag brother.
Yoona has a older sister (5 years)
Seohyun is an only child.
Sunny has 2 older sisters.
Tiffany has an older sister and brother.
Hyeoeon has a younger brother.

I honestly always wanted to read Jessica’s book. I always loved both J and K and support them even before their show. I do feel at the end everything that happened was more about jealousy and I think TK had a lot of a hand there too.

back than rumors were that Tiffany was more on the fence too. But yeah I absolutely believe Yoon, Seohyun and Sunny were the ones who were against it in a way. Especially Seohyun was sooo upset for days after news broke.
