I do immitate Americans despite never having been there. I love their accent. I am pretty sure I have a bit of my native accent left tho.

When I learned to talk, I lived on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, so I had a definite US Deep South accent. We later moved farther north and my parents actually hired a speech therapist to teach me to get rid of my accent. It mostly worked, except when I'm around another Southerner and occasionally when I'm singing.
