When I learned to talk, I lived on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, so I had a definite US Deep South accent. We later moved farther north and my parents actually hired a speech therapist to teach me to get rid of my accent. It mostly worked, except when I'm around another Southerner and occasionally when I'm singing.

well, how could they??? Southern accents are beautiful!

I have a slight southern accent from spending a chunk of my life in Georgia and North Carolina, and it also comes out when I sing.

I've been told I sound canadian because of reliance of some phrases, but I grew up in a place that was a border between the US & Canada so that would be expected to internalize some sort of Canadian-isms.

One time I was told by a professor I had a Californian accent because of my pronunciation of the letter R when saying words containing that letter.

But, personally, I do not think that, so my answer was "No."
