Duis, consistent examples of problematic behavior spreading through years, sex crimes. Thankfully none of the groups I’ve stanned have had members like that except Himchan (and Lucas on a baby level). I don’t stan either Himchan or Lucas anymore.

I try not to focus too much on the artist and I tend to just be a fan of the music, but when idol (or any musicians i like) get into things like hard drugs, assault, or anything that could put them in jail that's usually when they lose me.

Tbh I've been distancing myself from kpop as a whole. It's not just the idols themselves being problematic it's the fandom as well. The fandom plays a heavy part with it.

I'm really going to go against the trending narrative of this thread and say something that some people won't like. At this point what do we consider f**d up and are we going to penalize the group for an individual's activity within the group. Siwon has said some homophobic things and holds homophobic views, but there are still members of Suju who are not anti-gay.

Stairway to Heaven is considered a Rock N Roll classic, but its been well documented that Jimi Page [the guitarist] was having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old during his run in Led Zeppelin. And to be honest here listening to any Rock N Roll during these decades means having an understanding that some debauchery was occurring afterhours. Drug Use. Adultery. Promiscuity [i'm not really against free love but many are], Animal Abuse and in some cases sexual assault. Robert Downie Jr was a Coke head, but are we still going to support Marvel films with him in them. Personally, I could barely get through the first Iron Man, but I digress. There have been rappers that have done horrible things like shooting friends over stolen money (i.e., Remy Ma), but fans still support them. It would be hypocritical to stop supporting lets say Irene (RV) for Bullying while continuing to support Cardi B who has a history of treating stylists like sh*t.

Regardless when stanning an idol reality doesn't always need to be the centerpoint. This is an interesting question and thread. Especially when it comes to accusations without any real proof. The main one that comes to mind for me personally is Michael Jackson. Been a huge fan since I was a kid in the 80s during the Thriller era. I've watched a lot of content regarding his troubles from those who say hes innocent and those who claim he's guilty.

I've decided theres a 75% chance hes innocent. But if it was ever proven he was guilty then it wouldn't surprise me either. Problem is it looks like we will never know for sure. I've seen convincing arguments that he did it and convincing arguments he didn't.

Since I will never know I can't worry about it anymore and choose to just enjoy the amazing music he gifted to the world.

As far as kpop groups I can't really think of anything that would make me unstan them. If it was bullying it would depend on how old they were and if it lead to an attempted suicide. The closest I've come to this is with AOA. While not a group I live and breath like f(x) I still really love them as they are #6 in my all time top 10. I still don't know to this day who's the main villain but it hasn't made me stop loving them anymore.

this is true, none of us know the people whose work we support and likely never will. i listen to a lot of artists in kpop so it's inevitable that some of them may not be good people at all. at the end of the day what i choose to do has no effect on their actions, i'm in no way judging anyone who chooses to never support someone due to something they did but if i did a whole background check on everyone behind my favourite songs and movies i'd probably be left with no entertainment.

I do see the merit in choosing not to investigate one's work based on a reputation that is bad. For instance, while she didn't debut and was dropped, I would never be able to get into Han Seo Hee, Top's psycho ex who thought it was appropriate to reveal their personal sh*t on the internet. Once she started to penis shame TOP I was like... Girl bye.

One thing I would add is that it is always important to give the public equivalent of due process before making judgments. There have been a couple of idols who have experienced controversies for which evolved over time and weren't what they seemed at the onset.

Well I don’t think I would unstan a group based off one members (or maybe even multiple memeber’s) actions. Like with Himchan, I just decided to not stan him anymore and continue on with the other members. I assume your asking when would enough be enough for me to unstan any member in a group. i remember that top situation... just a mess all around, glad the guy is doing better now. this is one of the reasons why i believe we should all know less about each other. i never look up any information on celebrities i stan tbh, minus the fact that they make good music i know nothing about my faves which isn't related to their work. there were cases where i was very into a song like i could listen to it for hours on repeat and then months after that i could find that the person who made it died before i was born. so there's that

I don't care for what people may say. I don't judge and condemn without evidence and what the news or the people in general say is not it. I'll only unstan if they are already convicted; and there is still a chance they didn't do it. Scandals about dating and some more trivial things? I don't fucking care. I know this may upset those who judge by what is being said. Well, whatever.
