And no The Grace and f(x) were not underwhelming groups. They were both extremely talented and had plenty of flair.

Aespa is kind of just...there. Sure they are successful as hell but I see that more as kpops growth in general. But Aespa is so by the numbers like the rest of their generation that nothing stands out at all. I use to think Red Velvet were the most boring group of all time but compared to Aespa they are as exciting as Twice.

Most of the time I forget Aespa even exists.
I still blame Blackpink for completely ruining girl groups.

I just expect more from SM because of their history. Their girl groups use to stand out. Now they just play it safe and copy and paste Blackpink like everyone else.

honestly, i think aespa's concept is great and their vision is completely great and generation fitting and all, i just wish they would make this cyber-punk-ish sound more on their own rather than getting too inspired or republishing other songs. also i'd love if they would stop forcing aespa into the us market. totally defeats the whole thing with organic growth.

i honestly think blackpink and aespa's sound are way different. blackpink sound is like basic edm and trap/ hip hop, meanwhile aespa is really diving into the electro pop and cyberpunk genre. and any of aespa's song is way different than blackpink's. its a misconception. aespa's concept =/= girl crush

Yes that's what made SuperM so cringy. It was forced down people's throats that they were gonna be bigger than BTS when nobody asked for this. Let it happen naturally.

yea sm set them up real bad. and now if they continue like this, aespa's gonna be next. and unlike superm, aespa is an actual permanent group.

I think another problem is that Kwangya started off as Aespa’s thing, but then SM started bringing in the other artists they have to Kwangya too, which is a turn off.

aespa is original, innovative n giving songs tat hit with many young people if the reception is to be believed. Tat drewb the old fart finds aespa underwhelming while i like 'em is just a subjective matter of opinion. I hv no comments rn on KWANGYA n the SMCU verse. I just focus on the songs n the members, especially Winter n to a different extent Karina , giselle n ningning. aespa n SMCU verse aint going away.
