“appa!!” the little girl demanded, tugging on her father’s sleeve. hobi groaned, looking at his alarm clock. 3 am. “sweetheart, what do you want?” he pulled his daughter into bed with him and kissed her forehead. “noodles.” she whined and hobi sighed again.
“this early?” “pweasssseeeee?” she begged with pouty lips and puppy eyes and hobi couldn’t say no. “get up.” he grumbled, kissing his daughter again. they got ready in a rush, laughing as they brushed each others teeth and threw cheerios at each other. “come on princess, let’s go.” hobi caried his daughter and threw her in the air, smiling at her giggles. raising minhee was so worth it, no matter what she had said.
hobi’s smile disappeared as he remembered the last moments of his ex-wife.
“no! I will not raise this child! call me selfish jung hoseok, but I’m so young! I want to travel, see the world! you can have her.” she was never heard from again, and hobi wouldn’t want it either way.
they got in the car, rushing to get in and out as fast as possible. it was so early and it was a miracle that minhee didn’t fall asleep in his arms. hobi carried a basket in one hand and his sleep child in the other.
“minhee. princess, what type?” she pointed drowsily to the ramen and hobi swept almost a shelf into his basket. “let’s go.” they rushed towards the cashier and almost instantly spilled the cart. minhee’s eyes snapped awake at the jolt and the most handsome man (except her appa) stood in front of them, apologizing hurriedly, helping pick up the ramen.
his hair was mint green and he had the palest skin minhee had ever seen. “i’m so sorry!” he exclaimed, getting up, dusting his shirt and hobi did the same. “i’m jung hoseok-” they looked up at the same times, and their eyes connected. chocolate against chocolate, red against blue hair…
true love at first sight was real after all.
for two whole minutes they stared into each other’s eyes and walked to the chasier together, flaming red in endearing ways. minhee shrugged, falling asleep and the man just noticed the child. “oh shit.” he thought, for crushing on a married man, but hobi smiled softly.
“she was never part of her life.” he promised and the man smiled back at him, the gummy smile fluttering hobi’s heart. they bought their purchases and stood at the car, talking until the sun rose. about minhee, about their homes, about seoul, about themselves, until there was no more to talk about. and both of them realized it. minhee was asleep and they tentatively touched each other.
with a sweet kiss, yoongi hugged the younger, and promise he’d see him around.
elated and high on love, hobi drove back home, barely seeing the road. all he saw was the mint hair of the strange man that captured his heart. a smile played on his face for the first time because of another person, not minhee. hobi was so happy.
it wasn’t until he put minhee to sleep that he realized something.
he never got the name of the man.
or the number.
and he never would.
the man, min yoongi, was never seen again.
but hobi would never forget him.
