I have problems with milk from the stores, but not with "domestic" milk aka the one from farmers.
I guess that's how artificial the milk we buy in stores are; full of unnecessary things.

Is it true that milk strengthens the bones or not?

me too, im lactose intolerant but i also cant stand the taste or smell or mouth feel. i always eat my cereal soggy with just a tiny bit of milk so the cereal overpowers the milk, and milkshakes have to be very sweetened and flavored before i'll even touch it :coronawimwim:

No. This is likely a myth begun by milk industry propaganda. Look at this study:

So it didn't find an association between milk consumption early in life and bone fractures later. No association, no causality. So milk is not beneficial in that regard.

EDIT: I may need to retract this, as this only applies to early consumption and later bone strength. It cannot inform on current consumption related to current bone strength.

I found something that may (keyword here may) mean milk is protective. It's a "randomized controlled trial" which makes it a little better than the study above. Here it is:

There are a few things that make me doubt it is reliable. No study performed in humans actually is. The fracture reduction rate was 33% only and there are a lot of confounders. It is however much better than the one I link above. So I cannot say one thing or the other. I just don't know.

I hate to have to keep looking into this further; but I have. Doing some numbers, an interesting thing emerges.
There were a total of 7195 permanent residents, the study lasted for 2 years. That results on 14390 person-years of follow up.

Now total fractures were 121 vs 203, which means a decrement of 82 fractures. Now this is looking funny!
That's because it results on a reduction of 82 / 14390 = 0.0056984016678249 fractures per person per year. if we are to extend this for a full 100 years lifespan, this results on 5.6984016678249 x 10^-5; a number sooooooooo tiny, it's almost zero. So we can say the results have no practical utility whatsoever, as it can very easily be rounded to zero.

I have to go back to my original opinion that milk consumption has no bearing on bone strength.
