So there was a survival show recently called UPTOYOU. And the debut lineup was announced, all the members are in their 20s… except one. Said member was born in 2011… that just feels wrong. Why are they letting an 11 year old debut, let alone with full grown adults? We all know this child is unfortunately going to be sexualized. And this limits what the 20yos can do in regard to concepts.

Yes it’s a girl group. I only just heard about it because of a video on Tiktok and I’m in shock… 11 is too young. Even if debuting was her dream, let her train for like 4-5 years (or more) until she’s at least able to understand what she’s getting herself into

yeah, that's my biggest concern with this whole situation right now, besides the fact that an 11 year old is debuting at all. she isn't even old enough to create an AfreecaTV account, so the fact she was able to compete at all is baffling to me. not to mention she was likely rigged into her spot (i looked into it more and apparently she was in 19th place and got pushed up all the way to 4th), which means they were always planning on putting her in the group. everyone who agreed to this needs to be in jail, including her parents.

that's actually true (for once TT is correct), especially since that's the main audience of AfreecaTV BJs in the first place. there's likely still some truth to the rigging theory, but i also know some of those gross old men voted for her specifically because they want to see her doing those types of concepts. regardless of the truth though, this whole situation makes me sick to my stomach.

i really want the S.Korean government to step in and put an official age minimum on debuting (or even becoming a trainee) because this shit is getting out of hand, but I doubt that will happen since it's been proven time and time again that debuting minors is profitable.

tbh her being able to compete kinda proves they always wanted her to debut, because if they really didn't want that then she wouldn't have been there to being with. even without the kind of concept they're likely going for and the kind of platform AfreecaTV is, her debuting would still be gross.

yeah i'm glad they aren't going to promote them, the company clearly wants attention so not giving them that will (hopefully) make them reconsider their decision to debut her, or at least make sure the group doesn't last long due to lack of profits. i think the only other times i've seen nugu promoter do this is with Girl Crush and Nature (and iirc they went back to promoting Nature eventually since what happened wasn't actually their fault).

one pick is likely the culprit.
The early rounds mean almost nothing if the final round is one pick, especially if the voting pool is small.
similar to HB minimal over all support but enough solo fans to make it.

if the show was willing enough to have 11 year old kids in it then ya gotta deal with it like Classys big gap.
if the fans really don't want any kids in the group then they need to actively weed them out in the early rounds.
