I don’t understand the hipocracy of SOME kpop stans. They won’t stan/support Class:y or Lapillus because their members are too young its okay if you don’t like their music, thats not what I’m talking about. But they’ll go ahead and support/stan NewJeans or BabyMonster. Either respect them all or be against all minors debuting, you don’t get to pick and choose when the maknaes are all the same age. Is it because NewJeans and BabyMonster are from big companys?

its a lot easier to avoid the groups of small companies that don't get a tiny fraction of the exposure the big 4 groups have

yeah they're never going to stop debuting middle school kids if they keep selling 800k albums. as someone who also doesn't support debuting minors - especially as young as 13-14 - i wish kpop stans would put their money where their mouth is. at this point it is almost impossible who people who don't want to stan kidz bop aged idols to find groups to stan because they're all likely to have at least one child in it. and ofc company privilege is a thing, big 3 could debut a toddler and you'll have people defending it.

I agree they shouldnt debut minors but it's not kpop exclusive or new in 4th gen, it's not gonna stop and you can not just boycot companies as big as these realistically. The best thing fans can ask for is for these girls to have a proper support system, honestly.

Also yes the big company part also plays a HUGE role in who people choose to support but also i have to say that with class:y, even though i loved their latest song tick tick boom, it was highly inappropriate for a group with more than half the girls being 14/15. I would not support that and that is not okay. The concept etc matters too. Newjeans for example (minus um..cookie which was yikes..) are very teen-like with their concept and aesthetics etc.

I mean don’t get me wrong, there is a discussion to be had about debuting minors but a lot of it to me is just flocking from one controversy to the next without really doing anything.

granted, there is only so much we can do as individuals anyways. Like, I’m not expecting a dozen or so complainers to really change the industry but at the same time… idk it’s just so cyclical that I’m just ah yeah it’s happening again, yk?

New jeans i have yet to finish a song, but they are the on fire groups so unless they kill someone nothing will stop em.
classy i just watched some of the show for Yuri but i liked the younger team girls more. but thats mostly cuz i really do not like much of the gc content at all.
lappilus i only look at for Shanua and i have not clicked with any song.

It happens way too often. If they’re gonna complain, do it the whole time. If they’re gonna eventually stan them, they can politely shut their mouth. People need to start putting their money where their mouth is. Whether minors should debut or not, that’s another discussion, but whatever POV they choose, stick with it.

This may be unpopular but there is nothing wrong with minors debuting in K-pop groups as long as the concept is PG/G, I'd love to see a bunch of adorable teens singing about their first love and maybe when they get older if they want to gradually shift to a more mature concept I think that is fine. The teens that debut in K-Pop likely would just be in another just as harsh or even worse industry than K-Pop like figure skating where sure they are all very talented but a lot of figure skaters drop out of school and used up by the time they are in their late 20s and they have nothing to show for it other than maybe a medal or two from ISU events. Stage parents have always existed and if their children can't perform in one industry then they will appear in another.

Notice this is quite prevalent with company stans especially. Will condemn another newly debuted group from another company for said reasons, then eat up whatever new group their bias' company debuts, even if the group has said concerns as well.

I mean, Niki was fifteen and Huening Kai barely seventeen when Enhypen and TXT debuted, and they turned out pretty alright. And do you know how old Lauren Alaina was when she auditioned for Idol? Fifteen, and now she's one of today's hottest country singers. Oh, and I'm pretty sure Khalid was like sixteen when his first album came out. I could probably think of a whole bunch more former child musicians, but I'll stop there.
