At a job I had, you had to inform your coworkers when you were going. Ig though the logic is that so they know where you are and can cover for you when you’re gone. It’s not that unreasonable but still annoying nonetheless…

Most schools are terrified of saying no because if a kid wets themself at school because a teacher said no it's like a guaranteed lawsuit and settlement. If a teacher had ever said no I would have walked out of the class and gone and my mother would of wrecked them. If a kid has got to go they got to go. Go sit on the teachers chair and go. Yes, it's embarrassing. Yes, you'd be a legend.

Lucky you in my school they implemented a system where (outside of bathroom breaks by the teacher) you can only go 4 times per 9 weeks (not cumulative) and only after the first 15 minutes or before the last 15.

That seems pretty reasonable.

You can just ask whenever. Depends on the teacher though. Some flat out refuse but most would just tut and let you go. There’s no system or you don’t need bathroom passes. I’ve never understood why other schools have them

Now that I think about it it may be because students (or at least junior high students) could skip class and smoke or something.

I agree one should go whenever is needed, Using the bathroom is a need and come not everyone can wait 2 hours just to go to the bathroom

reminds of something my friend did in primary / elemetary school
we weren't allowed to go the bathroom within 1/2 hr of a break (ie. recess or lunch) but he really needed to go during that time
and the teacher wouldn't let him so he did what he did and peed either on the floor or his chair I don't remember
the teacher tried blaming him and lets just say that the kid was not the one in trouble lol
