I actually agree with you even though I adore NCT. Ten is so underrated and he doesn't get the attention he deserves for all of his hard work.

I like their music but I think NewJeans - they are many stronger idols at singing, dancing and writing their own lyrics and songs that don’t give half the hype those members do.

I love my Neos, but I think Jisung is overhyped as a main dancer. He is not IMO at the level of NCT’s other main dancers and has a very static amount of moves and expressions. In most group sequences I’m watching other dancers instead of him. In contrast, I ALWAYS watch Ten, Taeyong and Mark. (YangYang is also a main dancer but he’s often overshadowed by Ten. Nonetheless, still more engaging than Jisung, who is the only main dancer I can think of that gets overshadowed by his leads [Jeno and Jaemin.] Ten is never overshadowed by Hendery or Winwin and Mark and TY are never overshadowed by Jaehyun, Yuta, Johnny, Jungwoo or Haechan. If the two of them are side by side, you will always watch the main.)

I don’t think it’s surprising I disagree that everyone in NCT is overrated but won’t bother to argue here - I do agree that Ten isn’t utilized as much as he could be. But I would also argue that Ten has the most solo songs of any NCT member which - as talented as I think he is - kind of boggles my mind in a group with so much vocal firepower. I think Ten has improved his vocals over the years but still wild to me that he has more solo songs than some of the best voices of their respective generations like Taeil and Xiaojun.

I do think there are several idols who are overrated for “producing their own music” regardless of the quality of the songs or the amount of other people credited on the track.

This is my answer. Apex mentioned Soyeon but I also think of Exy from Wjsn. I see people shield her and other idols from criticism of their songs because they made it but it's like, they wrote the tracks. And I understand if people like the actual songs they wrote but I know a bit of people who don't like the music they had hand in making and I can't blame them, Soyeon's and Exy's writing skills aren't the best. As rappers they are really good though

Agree on both of these. I listen to some of NJ's songs, but their popularity right now is so disproportionate. I just hope the slide down is nicer to them than it's been to some other artists. Like some people seem to get a kick out of mocking ITZY for never quite reaching their debut peak in gp popularity again.

And on the song-writing, I've always viewed song-writing as a different skillset than being able to sing/rap, dance, and perform. It's cool if someone can express themselves that way, but I don't think it's a requirement to making an idol good at being an idol. Some people act like having an idol's name in the list automatically makes the song good, and if the company doesn't release an idol's music, it's because the bad, evil company is suppressing their idols... And IDK, some of those idols have gone on to release their own music later and it turns out that maybe the bad, evil company knew that the songs weren't actually good.

I think most that are the ''trend''. I don't like dropping names, cause i respect everyone who has the balls to debut in this crazy ass industry that is kpop. However i can agree with Jackson's words, that these people are only singer and performers, i find the term idol in itself wrong since none of these persons are perfect. If we get rid of this mentality then it's easier to see how these scandals happen, since they are only ppl too and make mistakes.
I know my faves, Stray Kids, expressed before that we shouldn't live our lives for them but for ourselves. I have seen many fans buying hundreds of albums in our fandom alone too, just so the sales break a new record. Honestly it's a lil fun to joke around with my friends saying ''omg my purchase saved JYPE'' when we only bought like maybe 2 albums XD.
Tbh these are just simple folks that do their job, altho they give their all into it.
(MAn i kinda feel motivated now to do my best too... )

I strongly disagree with Jisung, I think he's on another level and the best of his age and better than at least 90% older than him
I've never seen him overshadowed by Jeno or Jaemin

And this, he was by far the best idol to do this, just on another level, his dancing is INSANE


And this, no overshadowing by Jeno at all, Jeno is good, but Jisung is just on another level, a complete beast
