OK, apparently i'm a failure (2 Viewers)

Cause i didn't watch Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Star Wars or Lord of The Rings....

Honestly i just realized this when talking to my friends. I watched one or two movies from these franchises (or in case of LOTR none) and i didn't connect with it, and they joked around that it's NOT POSSIBLE...
Honestly i feel like i was never into big franchises that needed world building. I only read parts of Naruto and Bleach, never even tried to commit to One Piece ...
I don't know... is it weird?

But like i'm not motivated to start at all. I have been spoiled by it so much in the general media that i get the jist of most of these...

(oh and my brother watched all of these and apparently he has taste and i don't ... he watched the Witcher too)

I'm the same as you. None of those books or films interested me. I somewhat know of the characters on a surface level, but that's it.

So, you are not a "failure" just because you don't enjoy something others do. Do not worry about it.

Book wise I enjoyed Harry Potter, the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings, movie wise Harry Potter was hit or miss and The Lord of the Rings I disliked all the movies (but liked the Hobbit ones). But that doesn’t mean that my opinion is correct. Your opinion is no less valid than mine just because I happened to like some of them. If they’re not your thing they’re really just not your thing, it’s simple as that. People who think that their opinion about books/movies is the only correct ones are actually so annoying.

I will not read the books (except for HP which I have read aleady) because they are too much for me. Yes, I say this having read Realmbreaker by Victoria Aveyard which is inspired by LOTR...but it's fine. IAMNOTAHYPOCRITE.

Yeah... i mean i understand why ppl like it. An imagined world where you can have super powers... i liked kind of darker tales and murder mysteries in my days. Tales from The Crypt, Agatha Christie Poirot, Only Murders in the Building, Blood +, dark but not too dark. I will puke if i see gore

Oh no, for sure i would enjoy any of these movies and series if i saw on TV or online, i have no doubt about it. It's just spoiled too much throughout the years, like i know some inside jokes, how Kylo Ren had daddy issues or so on XD It's just a feeling of missing out? Like joining a party with ur big sister and her friends and feeling like you are not in the same world as them i guess :)))) But i'm fine otherwise

I think as long as you know what u dont like, you are fine.

Oh that's really valid, i just sometimes feel like i need to watch it til the end to see ... the conclusion (duh me XD) It's like a movie/book OCD that if i start it, i need to finish it XD

well, I try to at least watch the 1st ep, maybe the 2nd if I feel like it.
sometimes its not even the plot, but the actors or the production which I dont like.
like stranger things. I tried to watch it because ppl praised it so much, but I hated the acting and production, so I stopped watching after ep.2

I haven't even tried it tbh, i just didn't feel the 80s -90s style. So i get what you are saying about the production sometimes ruining it for some people.
If i'm being honest i did ditch series, especially kdramas ... I sometimes binge watched some of them, but in one particular case where there were famous big name actors in it, i just found the pacing of the story too slow and almost fell asleep after 15 minutes into the episode XD
