It's not horror, it was not even supposed to be, it was a normal children's mystery about finding kidnapped cats!

No the summary is accurate. That's the main mystery. This one that traumatized me is a "side mystery/plot" and not mentioned outside the book anywhere and not appropriate for that age considering I read actual horror and murder mysteries and never had nightmares in my life!

No the summary is accurate. That's the main mystery. This one that traumatized me is a "side mystery/plot" and not mentioned outside the book anywhere and not appropriate for that age considering I read actual horror and murder mysteries and never had nightmares in my life!

and then the reviews did not even mention the other part that made me have nightmares every time I closed my eyes, besides the gory brutal murder with the body disfigured so badly in detail, with the cat being then tied in a bag and then thrown into a well and drowned, lynched by the townspeople for "killing" the husband, which the husband knew would happen (he framed and abandoned his cat knowing the cat would be lynched and murdered two people and faked his own death and got away with it all), and having his name tarnished as an evil cat for a whole century!

they didn't even hint anywhere about it, you wouldn't know till you read it! it wasn't even supposed to be a murder mystery, just catnapping!

I think it's the author's fault too, she wrote it for kids, as part of a kids mystery series, and the honest reviews who loved the first book in the series said this one was way too disturbing, and not at all for that age, and super misleading! Like that was supposed to be a "suprise twist" or "subplot" but it literally is way more extreme and completely out of expectation with the summary and cover and genre and age and the most disturbing part?

She does NOT know how to write for kids idc

Oh, boy, how much time do we have??

The book I absolutely hated the most is The Power by Naomi Alderman. Basically, it turns out women are all Storm from X-Men. Kind of cool, right? Right. Except for the fact that nearly every single chapter -- including the flipping epilogue -- features someone being sexually assaulted, actively running away from someone trying to sexually assault them, or describing when they were sexually assaulted in the past. Mostly children. It's the one book that my book club put up that I'm genuinely kind of pissed about, because the person who put it up had read it before and didn't think to tell anyone "hey, there's a LOT of rape in this book."

Just wow.... I can't even comment on it , it's so disturbing

Out of curiosity I started to read Fifty Shades of Grey. The writing was so bad I quit about a third of the way through the book.

A Discovery of Witches. Sounded interesting, was terrible. Time I'll never get back in my life. Couldn't believe they made a show out of it.

I kind of regret reading Pachinko, because I found it too erotic. (I liked some parts of the book though.)
I had the same problem with a YA book called Me on the Floor, Bleeding by Jenny Jägerfeld. And I was also bothered by the part where the 17 year old main character lied to a 20 year old man about her age and then ended in a relationship with him. (I felt like the book kind of treated this as no big deal.)

and one short story collection by a Faroese author, because almost all of the short stories were very perverted and one short story made me have hard time breathing because I found it triggering.


Well... yup, I don't like books that are too sexual...
