Singer Nam Taehyun was caught by the police while drunk driving.
Around 3.20 am on March 8, 2023, he had pulled over on the roadside in the Gangnam area. Nam Taehyun had opened his car door while parked, and it hit a passing taxi. It was revealed that even after the collision, Nam Taehyun continued to drive for about 20 meters. Due to the collision, the taxi’s side mirror was damaged.
The police rushed to the site and tested Nam Taehyun for alcohol. The breathalyzer test showed 0.114%, a high enough number to void one’s license. He has been taken in for violating traffic rules. The police are still investigating the details.

I'm confused by the wording tho ...

he opened the door while his car was parked and a taxi was driving by so either he opened it right when the taxi was there (very hard timing wise) and opened on it, which also would not have enough force to damage the taxi like that, more likely his car would've been damaged

or he opened the car door while his car was parked right before the taxi passed it and the taxi hit his door with the side mirror

still "he continued driving for 20 meters"

But he wasn't driving when the taxi was hit by the car door? what "continuing driving"

it sounds like he kept driving with the door open, but more likely he hit the taxi/the taxi hit his door when he opened the door to get inside the car to drive

maybe I'm nitpicking

other than him driving away the actual "collision" wasn't drunk driving

and when the parking spaces at the side are too close to the narrow lanes of the road, and cars are coming fast, or people are driving close to the edge of the lane where people park, and someone with a parked car isn't careful, this kind of "collision" can happen without being drunk and without driving

the driving away instead of acknowledging he hit a taxi was a sign, but other than that the "collision" wasn't really drunk behavior so I'm a bit surprised (like that the conclusion after just this, not including the driving which happened AFTER) was that he was driving drunk, regardless of it being true

on busy streets it's very hard to open your car door when parallel parked

Right. I wonder if, when the cops responded to the report of the property damage, if he was so clearly out of it or it was more obvious. Kind of bad luck for him, good luck for everyone else that he was stopped before he could drive further in that condition.

this kind of collision though happens frequently without anyone being drunk on busy roads though I mean so I do think the article is a bit weird

Ig the police do a breath analyzer on anyone after a car collision even if it was while the car was parked but idk, especially dk abt korea

Also, Nam Taehyun I had hopes for you when I saw you debut in Winner. I'm so disappointed and strongly feel like you're way too handsome and talented to be acting this way. Even if you have depression and other issues you should have gotten help and tried instead of whatever the hell you are doing now.

Well we did say we’d be giving choices to remove idols who broke the law last time, we can’t really skip over ones for no reason.
