this argument is invalid since that song is sung by a korean artist and even they agree that it is offensive. many other (also korean) idols have sung it with a negative response and apologised for it. and if they genuinely didn't know because "they're still learning" then they should at least acknowledge that they did wrong and apologise so they can continue to learn instead of living in ignorance hoping that some fans who are not even a part of the culture they offended will pointlessly defend them every time.

You bring up some really good points that I didn't know! But I think the real problem becomes, how many people approved those cards before they got to StayC and Sumins hands? I think the wrong people are being thrown under the proverbial bus. The problem didn't start with them and shouldn't rest on their heads.

Yeah and they should know better oh my girl got immense backlash for this and calling out cultural appropriation in kpop is not something new? They’re not expected to know but they should be taught when they do something that insults a race/ethnicity (honestly confused abt this cuz “Asian” is apparently the race but India has diff ethnicities not just one)

The most offensive thing I'm going to say all day! If you are offended or become offended it is entirely 100% your fault for giving someone else the power to do so. One of my favorite quotes and I take it to heart. I heard it in the Princess Diaries (it's a movie packed full of meaningful life lessons!)

I love the Princess Diaries and Mia Thermopolis has had her moments of being bullied but she's never understood was it was like to be racially typecast, profiled, was told her ethnic food was gross or looked like shit.
Mia Thermopolis never had to deal with curry-related pickup lines while simply trying to enjoy a New Years party. Had rocks thrown at her car because she didn't speak English in a homogenous town.

Again, an apology and educating not just the staff but a bonus on educating the StayC girls hurts no one.

you have no right to dictate to someone your own views.
the person simply made the issue public and asked others, who might feel the same, to help and write to their management.
if you dont feel the same, ignore it. simple as that.

generalizing a topic is never good. (saying everyone does offensive things) you cant put one problem into the same pot as another one.
they are public figures and should know better as they are role models to their fans and the public.
if they sung a song that is widely known to be racist, the management should have known better.
not saying the idols should have known, its the managements task.
