I love the United States, I would die to defend it against it's enemies both foreign and domestic, blah blah blah. I'm a patriot. One of my greatest mistakes was not serving my country in the military. That being said, above and beyond my love for the United States is my love for my God, Family, friends, and my fellow human beings. I love and defend the US because it gives me the freedom to love and defend God, Family and Friends, and my fellow human beings. If the US needs to be criticized I'll gladly do it, loudly and with conviction because thats how we grow as a country. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong but I have the freedom to be right sometimes and wrong sometimes. I also have the freedom to say Xi Xing Ping, Putin; and Kim Jung Un are BITCHes and need to be bitch slapped so hard their faces come off like a Mr. Potato head doll. The United States is an imperfect, loud, obnoxious, bastion of freedom that gives evil nightmares. Even if we haven't won a war since WWII...

I'm definitely not woke. Obvious I'm an American loving Patriot, but I very much criticize. I have sexist and racist moments. Every human does because we're not perfect. I think I'm a realist. The US does have it good. I wish more American's understood that and were grateful for it...

I’ve not been cooking bc I live in a hotel

honestly internalized racism when I was a little kid and the vast underrepresentation of any Asians in media, only as a token or stereotype or their ethnicity’s culture (usually Chinese, Indian, Japanese, the big ones) being their whole personality and not rlly a human has contributed a lot to me just wanting to see Asian representation or support Asian voices in general bc (native Americans have it wayyyyyy worse than us representation wise) but otherwise it’s rlly hard to see or read anything from any Asians, and there’s the racism when you can just tell from the name “this last name seems East Asian” “this last name seems south or southeast Asian” that Asian authors rlly have a hard time too

so not necessarily stories that teach me smth but also raising those voices bc they can write just as well as the prominent white Americans who write most books and ingrain in young kids minds only white girls are pretty, and also have been able to see and read stuff from black and Hispanic Americans but not Asian. (And again native Americans have it worse than us)

i have saved over a 1000 books to read eventually over the years bc of the spotlight these voices finally get in aapi month which will only last so long.

for stuff I’ve learned I learned about some Chinese folklore from American born Chinese, finally read crazy rich Asians which is just cool to see a lot of stuff that are commonly culturally significant for Asians overall tho it didn’t really teach me anything and I saved lots of memoirs from immigrants, refugees, a lot of Asian mythology stuff from all sorts of different countries

unfortunately I also learned a lot about anti Asian racism in America which I never learned about in school and it made me so mad. Not to mention people only think of East Asians as Asian and discount south and southeast Asians which is so so ridiculous!! Because guess who the first two known ethnic groups from Asia in America were? Filipino and Indian SLAVES. And Filipinos and Indians are being told they’re not Asian or not Asian enough???? And in the history of Asian Americans too all these anti Asian laws were against ALL Asians. Columbus called native Americans Indians bc he thought he reached asia, and Chinese immigrants, the first major immigration group from asia (the Filipinos and Indians before wasn’t massive migration) had a racist law applied to them, and all Asians, bc a law racist against native Americans said “Indians” and the courts decided that since Americans call all Asians Indians (racism but suddenly Indians aren’t Asian, make it make sense) that Indian refers to the entire Asian/mongoloid race of people from continent of Asia including Indians, Chinese, and anyone else because Indians are Asian. And because native Americans are also called Indians, therefore, native Americans and all asians, including Chinese are the same race, Asian or Indian bc clearly since Indians are Asian all asians are Indian.

and then there was literally an asiatic exclusion racist group who specifically targeted Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, and Indian people and anyone else who came from Asia and had violent racist anti Asian attacks. INDIANS ARE VIOLENTLY ATTACKED BY AN ANTI ASIAN GROUP FOR BEING ASIAN BUT ARENT ASIAN OR ASIAN ENOUGH OR ASIAN AMERICAN TODAY??? Not to mention after the Chinese exclusion act was passed Indian and Filipino Americans were here fighting for their fellow Asians rights but it never gets talked about and suddenly Filipinos and Indians aren’t Asian???? That after the Chinese exclusion act and then excluding Japanese, Americans got their cheap Asian labor from south Asian countries but south Asians aren’t Asian????? They had a specifically racist anti Asian asiatic barred zones that allowed ZERO immigration from nearly all countries in the continent of Asia and an anti immigration act which was just banning Asians mostly but all this anti Asian racism in America affecting non East Asian Asians and still only East Asians seen as Asian???? Banned by anti Asian laws but “not Asian enough” all Asians banned from naturalization bc only white people and people of African ancestry (yes that was explicitly stated) could naturalize and no Asians could, a court ruled that no Indians can become citizens because all Indians are Asian and not white or of African descent and all anti Asian racist laws apply to them but Indians aren’t Asian???? The utter ridiculousness of it all when all anti Asian racism in the US has historically has been against all asians

the recent ones is not against “East Asians” but During World War II was against Japanese people so “Japanese passing” and after 9/11 was “Muslim/middle eastern” passing and with covid was “Chinese passing” but anti Asian racism has always been against all Asians blatantly racist laws that haven’t existed for other races in America

and then there’s this divide? Yes we don’t all look the same but even all East Asian countries have quite different cultures and there are so many things all Asian countries have in common; food; customs; beliefs wise etc

i suppose being cajun bc it took me until college, aka living outside of louisiana, until i finally embraced it.
when i was younger i thought a lot abt the culture was "annoying" or "weird" bc we are just a little group in louisiana i thought we were just annoying southerners its so much more and i hate that i didnt appreciate it growing up. now i try to express it whenever i can.
we're a culture holding on its last strings, the only thing that's probably gonna last is our food.

which is fine because our food is amazing, but there's so much more but it's just not there anymore. 😭 or region locked down in louisiana. 😭 there is SOME fellow cajuns in this area of texas ive noticed, but its less "community" and more "individuals" ykno. many cajun restaurants tho... so yay. but yeah, cajun culture is really dope but also really dying so i want to hold onto it as much as i can. i wish my grandpa taught me more of the dialect, bc our language is near extinct too. only the older folk know it fluently atp really. younger generation just catch certain phrases we say, etc, not really hold onto a full conversation type.

i love being cajun!! i am cajun!!!! we have amazing food, music, and a really weird language! we have cool traditions & interesting history! south louisiana is beautiful ! that is my home!! we r more than just our food i swear 😭😭😭😭



ONE time in my life living in texas a very nice older lady actually asked me if i was cajun and i was like "?????? how did you know." that's not something non-acadiana's figure out just by looking, especially @ ME. LOL
