Does anyone else cut the centers out of onions? (1 Viewer)

I’ve always done this because my mom decided that she doesn’t like the centers and that they taste different. I don’t get this because to me there’s not a noticeable difference and she dislikes all raw onion so I don’t really see why she’s targeting the center when she doesn’t like any part of the onion raw.

Does anyone else do this or is it a weird her thing?

Nope, that is the first time I heard anyone doing that lol, but I know people can have certain pet peeves when it comes to food. This reminds me of how I am with bananas. I don't like the part at the very bottom. I usually eat most of it, but for some reason, the end of a banana just bothers me, it's kind of weird... I feel bad if I waste food, so I usually try to force myself to eat that part

I mean you cut the onion in half and take out the layers in the middle. See the lines? We take one of the layers close to the middle and pop the middle out. It's a waste imo, but my mom insists.

Yeah everything except the thin dry layer :)

Okay at least you don't eat that layer I think we eat the same parts minus the center.
